Hello, My wife son daughter and I have made a decision to take the plunge and buy into the magic. However after visiting with the wonderful rep of the Disney Vacation Club we are undecided on Boardwalk or Beach Club. I think we like the rooms better and the Beach Club however I think we like the atmosphere of the Boardwalk. Can any of you DVC Experts please give us some direction and insight? It's a big decision as I am sure you already know and any help would be wonderful

Thank You,

A Mickey Luvn Family

PS We are currently at Disney and because of our state real estate laws we have to make a decision before we leave on Wednesday afternoon

It is such a personal preference. Both are great resorts. Our family prefers the atmoshphere and thememing of the Beach Club better than the Boardwalk. I think if you like the rooms better at the Beach Club, that might be your answer, you can still go over and spend time at the Boardwalk.

I'm not sure what you mean by the atmosphere of the Boardwalk. If it's the activity on the Boardwalk itself and the different restaurants/shops, then you can certainly walk over there any time from the BCV.

If you prefer the room decor at BCV, that would seem to be a more essential factor. Also, a BCV member has access to SAB and can currently "hop" to the BWV pool as well. A BWV member cannot use SAB.

Does that help?

Also keep in mind that you can stay at the different resorts. You are not locked in forever to the one that you choose. ;)

I have 3 kids - 17, 19 and 21 - they prefer the BCV because of Stormalong bay. It's just a short walk to the Boardwalk!

Pam didn't say that right.

It makes no difference what your home resort is in regards to using the SAB pool.

If you are staying at BCV then you may use the SAB pool. It makes no difference whether BCV is your home resort or not.

If you are staying at BWV then you may NOT pool-hop to the SAB pool. Again it makes no difference whether BCV is your home resort or not.

Bottom Line, a BWV member can use the SAB pool if they are staying at BCV. A BCV member cannot use SAB if they are staying at BWV (or OKW or VWL).

One thing to consider if you want to stretch points - BWV has standard views that are less points. On my 6 night December trip it's 121 vs 155. We love the standard views because you can see the fireworks from Illuminations from most rooms. Standard views can be difficult to get at 7 months, especially for popular times. BWV also has the 3 bedroom grand villas, if that might interest you, BCV does not. Since you are there, take another look around at both.

We own at BC and we are not disappointed in our choice at all. Nor are we envious in any way with respect to the other resorts. Each has their own pluses and minuses. However, with that said if getting the most bang for your buck is an issue and you are able (and will be able) to travel most any time of the year, then I might lean towards BWV because you would have an easier time getting the standard (and thus less expensive) view rooms.

At the end of the day, IMHO that is a pretty nice advantage if you decide to go for BWV.

I hope this helps.

We own at both and I would have a hard time deciding between the two. We originally bought BWV and did an add-on at BCV; mainly because we take the GC (averages about every 18 months) and they enjoy SAB. We wanted the 11 month window to be sure we got what we wanted. When we go by ourselves I prefer BWV. You have easier access to restaurants for breakfast or just to get coffee in the morning.

Other than SAB I think my GC enjoy BWV more. They are young and we are more apt to let them go down to the BW alone from BWV than we are from BCV.

I don't think you can go wrong with either.

One nice thing about the boardwalk is that you can easily get take out from any of the restaurants and have it back in your room when its still fresh and hot....you could do the same from BCV (get takeout from BW restaurants)....but its a much longer trek back to your room with your food!

Otherwise I think its a choice between the option of standard view points vs. SAB....then again, I think its easier to book BCV at 7mo than it is to book BWV standard views at 7mo. We're BWV owners and are spending a weekend at BCV this fall...mainly to use SAB...then moving to to BWV and a standard view room. Best of both worlds.

One thing I've noticed though...having the less expensive points option has made me cheap. Since I can get a room for less points I'm hesitant to "waste" my points staying elsewhere. So if you really love the feel of BCV better, that's a factor.

I think either way you'll be happy though! We had an equally agonizing decision between BWV and OKW!

Can you buy at both? That is what we did - equal amounts at both BWV and BCV. I feel like we have the best of both worlds. If however we had to choose only one, I would choose BWV. Having the option of the standard view rooms is so nice. Plus we just get that magical feeling when we are there. Good luck!!

Both are great resorts and it is a really hard decision. The deciding factor for me would be if there are children in your party who would enjoy SAB.
DH and I are DINKS, so the pools don't really matter to us. However, if we had children I probably would pick the BC.
Good luck with your decision. No matter what, I don't think you will be disappointed with either! :D

We own at BCV because we stayed at BC/YC years ago and loved it there. The plus for us was SAB, B&C, closer walk to Epcot which is my favorite place to go when at WDW. If you have young children you may want to consider BCV since you would have the 11-month advantage even at peak times. Good luck with your decision. Annmarie

It's been said before... they are both great resorts. IOM the main selling points for these resorts are are:

BWV = access to standard view points rates. If the lower room rates is important to you, then BWV is for you.
BCV = Stormalong. If you really want SAB, lean toward BCV.

That said, the emotional factor should be what tips the scales, because these reosrts are so close. I would recommend you make a family visit to each resort, if you haven't already done so.

Then go out to the end of the dock, so you can see both resorts, and have a family meeting, and vote!

We own BWV (also OKW) and love BWV; however, our most recent 3 vacations have each included a week in a 2 bedroom at BCV and we now think we prefer BCV. Don't tell anyone, because we hope we will find an inexpensive resale on the timeshare board! But both are great, for all the reasons stated above

But, the locations are equally as good. BCV about 4 to 5 minutes less time walking to Epcot and both are just an 8-minute (or so) ferry ride to MGM Studios.

The only monetary difference (very small difference, but a difference nonetheless) would be the maintenance fees. Beach Club Villas has a maintenance fee of $3.97/point and Boardwalk Villas is $4.10/point. So, you see it's going to come down to personal preference!

Good luck with your decision! :bounce:
