Impact of memorial day 2019

What is the impact of memorial day to the parks? Next year we are splitting between four days in Disney and four days and universal in May due to children that are in college and A special education program for a younger one. The dates that we visit are firm and I am unable to manipulate the days. So I’m wondering what the impact would be on that Monday and with the impact be greater in Disney or in universal?

It’s a fairly busy holiday weekend, and both resorts (WDW and UO) will see a big uptick in crowds.

We spent Memorial Day at MK and the crowds were not bad at all. Rain was forecast, so it may of held crowds back a bit.

What this means is that it wasn't difficult to move around at all. The secondary attractions didn't have massive lines. Everything was running at full capacity.

As usual, you will need to use fastpass to avoid long lines at all the headliner attractions.

By going on a holiday weekend, it will pretty much guarantee all the attractions and shows are running at full capacity. Many locals will avoid going on holidays, so crowds end up being fine.

The only holidays I would avoid these days is Christmas/New Years.

Are you staying on-site at Uni? If you have EP it really takes a bite out of crowds and I would definitely do Uni on Memorial Day weekend if that were the case. We went to Uni the week of Thanksgiving and didn't feel like the crowds were a big deal because we had EP. I wouldn't go to Disney Thanksgiving week.

If staying at an EP resort isn't an option, I'd probably do Disney since you at least get FPs.

Up until the Friday before Memorial is great but then the weekend it begins to get crowded and by Monday you are in full summer mode. For many that is the first week off of school. In all it depends on what times you have gone and are comparing it to. Been several times around then, just needs good planning strategy and sometimes patience.

We have done the last 5 years doing memorial weekend at universal and Disney. There is no difference between the two as far as who is more crowded and as far as holidays it's a good choice. About the same as labor day. For the same reasons. Only part of the country is out of school but it's too close to the end of the school year for those still in school to take off. We also find the temps to be pretty mild for the most part. We'll be back in 2019 too, since we get out of school a week before

Agree with PrincesswithaBlaster.
Stay onsite at UO at one of the 3 with ep for the Memorial Day portion of your trip. Then the crowds won’t matter so much.
