Hello. We have a 7:45am flight leaving SNA on Sunday, Nov 16th. Will traffic from the Avengers Marathon impact the time it takes to drive from Candy Cane Inn to the airport? Was thinking we would need to leave around 5:45am?

well my race starts at 530 on Sat, and i think sun it starts the same time. I would plan on some streets being closed down and I would add in another 15-30 mins for needing to get around. Id say leave no later than 530?

Thanks Jade. 5:30 will probably be a safer bet. Originally our flight wasn't leaving until 4:30 in the afternoon but the airline cancelled on us (for the second time)! I was looking forward to a relaxing morning but , oh well, there are worse problems to have for sure! Good luck with your race!!

All street closures will be in place by 5am, with some starting at midnight. In my opinion, you need to leave before 5am because Harbor will likely be closed. 5:45 is cutting it way too close with Harbor being mile 3. Also, if you plan to use an airport shuttle or taxi there is a very good chance that they will not be allowed to go to your hotel, and that only cars on Harbor will be allowed to leave. You should consider moving to a hotel outside the race course the night before, if at all possible.

Thanks for posting this SMD. Looks like this may be a bigger problem than I thought. I guess I will need to think about a hotel switch, at least for the Saturday night. Grrrrr, I am pretty annoyed with Delta Airlines right now!

Something similar happen to me with an annoying flight change. I had intentionally chosen a later flight because my parents were leaving at the same time on a different airline. Hey, free ride! Well, my flight was switched by the airlines to leave 2 1/2 hours later. Well, if I have to pay for a cab or shuttle, I'm flying east, I might was well leave earlier. But to switch to an early flight or switch from LAX to LGB was going to be the fare difference plus a change fee! So they can change my flight, but not be nice about it and change it to a time that works better for me? That's lovely.

Agree. I believe that is the side runners will be using.

It all worked out good in the end! We were planning on making Thursday a non-Disney day and hitting Aquarium of the Pacific and then a visit to Newport Beach. Now we will go to DLR Monday through Friday. Check out of CCI on Saturday. Do the things we were going to do on Thursday and then check in to the Hilton across from SNA that evening. Catch our early flight Sunday and get the kids home in plenty of time to get rested up for school the next day. The best part is when I called CCI to adjust our reservation, I got a better rate for a couple of our nights and in the end I come out about $200 ahead:cool1:
