We are travelleing to Orlando 13th October.Last year when we arrived there we had to have our fingerprints and photo's taken, will we need to go through all that again or is there a seperate check in for those who have already been through this previously ?

Keith.

You are required to have fingerprints and photograph done every time you enter the US

pat, why does it need to be done on every visit? we had this done last october as well, my dd was excluded as she was under the age of 16, i thought once it was done that was it!

because how do they know that the Netty who came in last time is Netty this time and not Osama Bin Netty? :earsboy: :earsboy:

That made me chuckle :rotfl:

But I had always wondered why you needed it done every time. Obi you explained that brilliantly :)

Once biometric passports come in, the system will change as it will be matching you up to the info on the passport.

in some airports, they have started to fingerprint/photo on the way out now as well.

does this take a long time? It always took ages to get through immigration in the first place...

When they first introduced it it slowed down the process. Now it doesn't really add much to the time it takes for the CBP agent to issue the requisite scowl and stamp the passport and I94-W, since they can multi-task now. :)

The slowest thing is if your fingers are too dry or too moist and need wetting or cleaning.

What do they do when faced with a passenger without index fingers?

:) Chris.

Thanks for all the replies regarding the fingerprint/photo thing.Last year it was a drag it took us an hour to get through.Maybe they didn't have many desks open or something, just hope it's quicker this time around.
