:headache: Hello!!!!!!!!!

I am going to WDW with my family in September this year and last time we went they told us at immigration to go through according to our surnames which is fine, but there are 3 different surnames going this time one being my brothers girlfriend and she would be going through herself!!

Can we all go through as one party or is it correct to go through in groups according to surnames? i hope this makes sense cause i think i have just confused myself!!!

Thanks

On our last visit we had a group of 6 people with four different surnames and we all went through immigration together. Hope this helps:)

I don't suppose they'll be worried because you're scanned as an individual anyway. I'd just go through as a group.

Depends how strict your immigration officer is... strictly speaking I believe that you are supposed to go through in immediate family groups (i.e. husband, wife and children). Relationships such as "living together" and boyfriend and girlfriend don't count.

Before my husband and I got married, we used to go through seperately...

We went to Switzerland last weekend - I went up to the immigration with my husband (of coming up to 10 years) and presented our passports and the officer said we had to go through seperately (despite a family of three just going through at the same time, with the same officer, immediately before...). I said "we are married" and he was ok with it then: we are a "mixed race" couple and I think that the immigration officer jumped to the conclusion that therefore we weren't married...

You could try to go through immigration as a group if you wanted, but don't be completely surprised if you get a grumpy jobsworth who sends some of your party back behind the line.

Thanks for the replys

There are 6 of us going:

Mum, Step-dad, me (daughter!), my nephew, my brother and his girlfriend. If it was to be immediate family my bruvs girlf and my nephew would need to go through on their own and its worrying re my nephew cause neither his mother or father are going and he is only 10!! last time i took him through cause i have the same surname as him and we were never questioned but im nervous now!!!!

I think we may just stick to surname, poor girlf she will have to go through herself!!!

Thanks again

Your nephew would probably be ok with you (since same family name - they would probably just assume he was your brother also).

My tip is, if they don't allow your brother's girlfriend to go through with you, let her go through first (i.e. in the front of your group) - so at least she gets through first... that way, psychologically, she is not "being left behind" (she is just going through first).

You might be ok... to be honest, I wouldn't worry about it - it really isn't a big thing. Don't make it into a big thing, then no-one will worry about it :). It never bothered me going through alone (which I did from my late teens onwards).

When we were at Sanford last year, we were told to go forward in family (surname) groups. There was a school party there and they were repeatedly told they had to go through separately, even though the teacher was trying to get them through as a group, immigration was having none of it.

It isn't a big deal, your brother's girlfriend will be fine, as suggested just let her go first. She will be through quicker as well. In a family group it obviously takes longer to go through the group.

My mum and I went through together in September in NY. But when we went with the inlaws we went thru separately as we were 2 separate families.

We usually split up from anyone with a different surname (DD's BF, DS's GF) but last summer my niece came with us and, as she is 12, I didn't want her to go through alone. So 6 of us rolled up to the immigration booth and went thro' as a family despite her having a different surname - it was no problem at all...

When we went in Dec we were told to go through in surname group by the lady who walks around - so i went over by myself whilst my fiance (now DH) waited - the immigraton officer was really friendly and joked about us havign a row on the flight and let us go through together.

I think it depends on who you get but its no issue going through on your own!

my son and I go through together but my mum goes through in a diffreent line, we always get through at the same time then.

On last years trip, I went through with my daughter and DH my surname is different because I haven't changed my passport into my married name lol - mainly because they wanted £60+ to change my surname, so I travel with my maiden name. They were fine, there usually grumpy selves but with us all together.

LOL i know what you mean!! They charged me £70+ to change mine ...and then they lost the first one in the post

2 years ago I went with My Mum, Dad, and DS..we filled in one form as we all have the same surname. when we got to the desk the immigration officer said "do you all live in the same house"..me not being a very good liar had to say no...He then sent my Mum and Dad back to fill in another form and rejoin the q. by the time they got through me and DS of 6 had collected our four cases!!

Although when me and Mum went to NY we went through together.:confused3

I think it just depends how jobsworthy the immigration officer is. We are going to fill out 2 forms this time at least they won't have to go to the back of the Q!!:dance3:
