Immigration question

My son and his friend are going to Orlando soon.

Do they go up to the immigration desk together or separately?

They can queue up together but from what i can remember they will go to the actual dest on their own. Its only family members who can go up together.
Immigration peolple are scary, they always make me feel like ive done something wrong

I wondered last year if they would let me a DGF go through together as she was scared also anyway there was no problem we were in the line together and went to the desk together. Think it might depend on the officer, he was very......... Boring, nothing nice to say at all lol.

That's surprising. In all the times I've travelled to the US with DBF, we have always been told to go through separately!

We took DS's friend in 2008, all went thru together. Same when we take DMIL with a different surname. Never a problem.
I would always go thru together unless told different at the desk.
I have never found them scary, some a little abrupt but as I have said before they do a very boring job, if you just throw your passport at them and don't speak they will not start a conversation with you. I always say good afternoon and ask how they are doing, most are more than willing to conversate and will then incorperate any questions they want answering into the conversation rather than you feeling interrogated and uneasy.

Me and my DBF went up together last year. We were prepared to be separated but the queue boss insisted that we went up together.

Once they wouldn't let my gran through as they couldn't get a finger print from her. They said her hands must have dried up on the plane so the fingerprints didn't match from her previous trip. Held her in a room for an hour. The story always makes me chuckle. So remember use some hand cream on the plane . She said they were just joking on and being nice once they knew what the problem was.

I feel exactly the same! I must admit, immigration is the only thing I'm not looking forward to Last time I went to Florida, I was pretty young so wasn't worrying about stuff like that! I'm going with my bf and my best mates (who are married) so I guess just see how it goes when we get there!

My friend and I were told to go through separately back in 2008 (we're obviously not related). When DBF and I travelled to the US together for the first time, we were asked if we had the same surname, at which point I was (politely) asked to step back. Since then, we've just gone separately to avoid any issues!

We have always had the complete opposite experience. Very 'official' yes, but they always initiate a bit of chatter and a smile. Maybe we have always been lucky. They have a serious job to do so I never offer any information or start talking - simply answer the questions, but those have always included at least one or two lighthearted holiday questions and a few smiles.

She should have thrown the liquid rule at them by way of an excuse!

Yes but off topic a bit. I stupidly couldnt figure out how to get out of schippol (mispelled) because I was looking at the signs and my choices were EU or Alles. I was so perplexed as too why Germans had their own immigration line. Silly high school french or silly american it's a toss up.
When i went home a year later I was so terrified my clothing was going to set the drug dogs off I almost left everything behind.
