Inspired by the "Hating the Police" thread.

Are there any songs that make you change the station as soon as they come on?

I've compiled a list since that thread. Some happened since then, others just from memory.

Besides many Police and U2 songs, these make me switch stations from Sirius First Wave:

Total Coelo-I Eat Cannibals
Jim Carroll-People Who Died
Falco-Der Kommissar
Animotion-Obsession
Men Without Hats-Safety Dance
Godfathers-Birth, School, Work, Death
Nena-99 Luftballoons

Special Case: The Tide is High and Rapture by Blondie. Sorry, Debs. By this point you got too big for your britches and pretended to be someone you weren't. Then you flamed out spectacularly in another two years. I think you learned your lesson.

I pretty much like everything on the country station I generally keep the car radio tuned to, but when I switch over to holiday music in December, I do turn the station for that awful song about the shoes. - Christmas songs should not be sad!

Horse With No Name, America--way too long, too plodding, boring

She Drives Me Crazy, Fine Young Cannibals--annoying on many levels

American Pie, Don McLean--sacrilege, I know, but he's just being too cute for his own good with the oblique references

Imagine. Not because it is a bad song, but because it has been overplayed since his death. And IMHO is it not representative of his best work.

People still listen to the radio?

Back when I did-
Anything by Yes
Joe Satriani- Surfing with the Alien
Most Pop music. I took it as a personal affront when I was listening to a ROCK station.

For me:
Led Zeppelin
any wailing country song
Rap. any rap.
For me Led Zeppelin is always an occasion to turn it UP.

When Elton John reworked Candle in the Wind for Princess Diana. They played it to death and ruined the original for me.

Anything by Bastille, especially Pompeii.

And now it's stuck in my head.

Thanks a lot! ;)

Usually anytime the Beatles channel plays anything on Johns Jukebox and anything “Beatles were inspired by”.

Mostly I flip when it's a song that's been overplayed for too long even if I previously enjoyed it I usually want a new song so my list just refreshes itself over time  It doesn't help that for a few years now I've been on Spotify a lot and a lot of times those songs find themselves there before I hear them on the radio so I'll be listening to it for a while already. I've been listening to Blinding Lights by The Weeknd for so dang long and that song is still played a ton on the radio, these days I flip the station when it comes on.

I stick to just several stations between pop, alternative rock, rock. I have some country stations but seldom listen to it (my fave type of country is more 90s country). I used to listen to a hip hop station but most of that music that I found on that station I like ends up getting played on other stations (mostly pop stations it seems like) so stopped listening to that hip hop station.

Overplayed and/or annoying
Keep your hands to yourself-Georgia Satellites
Work it- Missy Elliott
Moves like Jagger- Maroon 5
Happy- Pharrell Williams

I like Santana but in very small doses. All of his tunes are long and winding, there’s nothing there to break it up.

‘90s had some great country music. Had a great Country/Rock vibe.

I don't really listen to the radio, but if I ever hear the song "Happy- Pharrell Williams" I am going to be changing the channel or just turning it off. I don't really know why I hate that song so much, but I really do.

Anything by: U2, Guns and Roses, Imagine Dragons, 21 Pilots, Eric Clapton, Jethro Tull, Rush, the Doors
I'm sure there are more.

Anything country
Anything Dave Matthews
Anything John Mayer
And, of course, anything by Golden Earing :rotfl2:
