Imitrex doesn't work well for my daughter either and made her feel too sick. Same thing with Maxalt. She has had the best luck with the Zomig nasal spray and Relpax.

I used to take Imitrex but then I switched to Zomig.

I take the Imitrex injections if my other 2 options don't work first.

#1 I try, over the counter, Execdrin Migraine.

#2 I take a Maxalt tablet. I take the ones that dissolve in your mouth, without water.

I don't get migraines as much as I used to. The meds usually kick in if I take them as soon as I feel one coming on.

Maxalt worked wonders for me but my insurance won't cover it. I tried Zomig but I didn't like how it made me feel so I am now on Imitrex. It works ok, not as good as Maxalt.

Hello my friend!

I do not suffer from re-occuring migraines but have had them once in a blue moon and I have taken Zomig and that did work wonders. It did make me feel like my head was going to fall off my body but I would take that compared to the headache any day.

Seems like a lot of people like Excedrin Migraine. This is my concoction - don't laugh - my family doctor said if it works - go for it! I take an Aleve Cold & Sinus, then 2 Extra Strength Tylenol 30 min. later, and I drink a Dr. Pepper (loads of caffeine I'm guessing is the trick to the soda). Not the best for your stomach but it works, and I only have to do this maybe 2-3 times a month. I have to catch it at the start though, if I get into full blown migraine I'm doomed. Then I'm in the bed with ice or on the bathroom floor...I should probably look into an RX for those times.

I have found that Excedrin does nothing for me than make me sick to my stomach. I have taken Zomig, Imitrex-which usually gives me a rebound headache, and currently I am taking Treximet. It seems to work fairly quickly. Has anyone else used Treximet? It is a fairly new product, I believe.

I have been given Imitrex for migraines & for me it's useless.
In fact it gives me more symptoms like pressure in my head & dizziness.
Anyone had luck with this medication?
What do you take for migraines?

Imitrex works pretty well for me. I've also had success with Relpax. My migranes are not severe. I've gotten better at recognizing the signs of my migranes so I've been making it a habit to be able to take it easy once a pop the pill.

Did anyone have hair loss with Topamax?

No hair loss. My biggest was the tingling in my hands and feet (not that bad though) and weight loss/loss of appetite.

The biggest thing is to find something that works for you. If you see my other post, I've tried quite a number of medicines before finding something that works for me...

DH has migraines, but not nearly like he used to. I switched him from his Rx meds to herbals. He takes Butterbur to prevent them and Migraine Formula if he gets one.

Right now they are out of the migraine formula.

We still have some Imitrex hanging around but DH almost never takes one.

I've had some luck with Imitrex, but I have to take it as soon as I feel a migraine coming on or it's useless. I usually cut a 100 mg in quarters and take it with 2-3 Ibuprofens. When I got really bad ones, I would add in a Lortab too. My doctor referred to it as my migraine cocktail.

I've tried Relpax and Topamax too. I found more relief w/ Topamax, and less side effects.

I found that my migraines were allergy related. I started taking allergy shots last summer, and have found that my headaches have nearly disappeared. I used to get at least three a month, and now I've gotten one in the last four months. The shots have been a lifesaver to me!

Good luck, I know how frustrating and debilitating migraines can be.
