iMessage did not work on October 7 Dream cruise

Just to let others know - the free iMessaging did not work on our cruise the week of October 7. On the last day, the full day at sea, it kicked in about 2pm and worked the remainder of that day. We were back to Port Canaveral the next morning, so it worked less than 24 hours. It may vary each week but just wanted to share for those cruising soon on the Dream!

Thank you for posting this. Our dog has some medical issues so we were hoping to be able to text our pet sitter while cruising.

We leave next week and had just called and asked if iMessage texting would be available on the Dream and they said it’s testing on “select dream cruise dates” at the moment and to ask at the Connect@Sea Desk upon arrival.

It was in and out on our Magic Bermuda DVC Cruise last week. Mostly it did work, but not constantly.

We were hoping to use it to keep in touch back home (minimally, but still, know it was available). We ended up purchasing the Verizon Travel Pass around noon on our Nassau day (but back to airplane mode once we set sail) and were able to have it till noon on our Castaway Cay day. Then the iMessaging kicked in around 2pm the following day. So we spent $10 and had a way to be in contact once a day on our trip which worked out well.

That’s a great idea. We have something equivalent on AT&T that we could use (should iMessage not be an option). Thank you!

I have never been able to use iMessage on the Dream the way I did on the Fantasy or the Magic.

Check with your Service Provider. (AT&T, Sprint, etc.) With Sprint I get free basic service in the Bahamas but can pay to upgrade to a higher speed if I want. This worked great in Nassau and on Castaway.

Also, Make sure to sign up for the free 50mb of internet on the first day if they are still offering that.
