Continuing on with my dining report ...

Spoodles - Breakfast
While I did try several new places for breakfast this trip, Spoodles still slightly edges out all of them and remains my favorite WDW breakfast place. I love the mix of traditional American choices, as well as the more unusual items they have.
For reasons I just DON'T get, it's NEVER crowded when I go here .. I HOPE that doesn't spell out this buffets demise. The menu hasn't changed since my first visit here, and it includes all of the things it has in the past, which are: loads of fresh fruit; bagels & lox (one of the few places that has them); assorted pastries, muffins & danishes; cold cereal assortment; oatmeal; grits; biscuits & gravy; waffles; plain scrambled eggs; veggie frittata (an open face omelet); terrific breakfast pizza, with tomatoes, eggs & cheese .. mushrooms too I think; breakfast potatoes; roasted veggies drizzled w/olive oil, wrapped in phyllo dough (this is my favorite item!); bacon, ham, sausage.... seems like I'm leaving some items out, but I didn't make notes here, since I've eaten here so many times before! LOL but this should give a good general idea.

Marakkesh (Morocco, in Epcot) Lunch
Another cool, generally uncrowded oasis for a meal! Though I will say, it was far busier than I've seen it before this time - I'm afraid too many people know about it now! LOL My meal was very good, as was everyone else's. No appetizers this time - it was an EXTREMELY hot & VERY humid (moreso than normal) day today, and I just couldn't overstuff myself. I had the Vegetable Couscous - this is SO flavorful, yet has no meat in it!! There's the couscous, chick peas, carrots, tomatoes .. I think that's it.. It's amazingly light yet filling .. really, a great choice! The boys both had the Lemon Chicken, which I also love - chicken, braised in a lemon/garlic & olive sauce - extremely full of taste also. Dave had the Shish ke Bab, another thing I like, and he enjoyed his too. I also love one of their red wines .. forget the name right now .. I know it begins with a "G" .. Anyway, I don't see TOO many people here really talking about this gem, but if you want somewhere a little different, give it a shot!

Donald's Breakfastausaurus (AK)
This was good, foodwise, as it always. The buffet includes: Scrambled eggs plain, and with cheese; bacon; sausage; asstd fresh fruit; cottage cheese; cold & hot cereal assortment; biscuits & gravy; waffles; breakfast potatoes.

I was somewhat disappointed though, in that we didn't have a fun and more interactive server this time. In past visits, we've been seated in the main room, and had servers who were really great with kids, played around, gave them a bit of a "hard time" .. just made things more fun. We were seated in the kind of back room this trip, and didn't have that. It also took a lot longer for characters to come around in this location too .. so from now on, I'd request that front room.

Grand Floridian Cafe - Lunch
This is one of my favorite locations for lunch. It's perfect for our "chill" days, when we plan on staying poolside, or just hanging around the hotel. The menu here has changed several times over the last few years, but I've continued to enjoy it regardless. I only wish they hadn't stopped the outside service, at the big round tables under the porch there. Not so much for lunch, because it's generally too hot then ... but for a casual dinner, it used to be nice to be able to sit outside.

Because everyone was just so darned hot, we didn't do the whole multi-course meal thing this time! LOL I had just the "Earl of Sandwich", which was turkey, ham, boursin (sp?) cheese & tomato, grilled -- excellent!!! and I'm not particularly a big sandwich eater. In fact the boys had this too, but shared one - this is a BIG sandwich. Dave had a steak sandwich, which is always good here. I was the only one who had dessert <g> .. but it was light - a mixed berry pyramid - and it was delicious! I wish I would've taken a picture of this in fact! LOL It was literally a pyramid - of blackberries & raspberries, in a gelatin - not large, but very nicely presented, and just right for a hot day.

Whispering Canyon Cafe - Dinner
I'm sorry to say that this wasn't a very good meal foodwise. I've always enjoyed this place in the past, and never understood everyone's complaints on the boards here, about it being too greasy or not good.... but I do now! Yet it's consistently busy, and there's always a wait here for your PS. I DO think that the servers, the little games and fun that they have with the guests, are still fun. But even the boys didn't care for the food ... it really was quite greasy, and I was glad that I was on the Grand Plan, so that I could go back & get room service later! LOL I won't be going back here again for a while .. at least, not until I read that things have changed.

Spoodles is one of my favorites, too! I'm worried about it being changed myself. We have always just walked in at breakfast with tables empty around us. I'm afraid it will eventually be converted to a character breakfast with a completely different menu. My favorite is the breakfast bread pudding--YUM!

Thanks for the review!

:D

We tried Spoodles last October and fell in love with it. We will going there again during our Christmas trip. We tried Donald's once and really enjoyed it as well.
