It may seem like we have more than the usual family's amt of "down time" .. and I guess that's true! LOL I suppose that's only because we have been lucky enough to make many, many trips to WDW, and while I'll never stop loving it there, there's no real "urgency" to HAVE to see/do EVERY single thing on each trip.
After we had room service for breakfast, and I caught up on writing in my journal, and uploaded some pics from my camera, we got our suits on and headed down to the pool. We started out at the "quiet" pool, since the new pool doesn't open 'til 10 am. Once that was available, we switched over there. I just love those cabanas on the side!! LOL Love the slide there too! We spent a couple of nice .. very hot! LOL but nice relaxing hours poolside. Just before 1pm, we headed back to the room to change quickly and then came back down and out to the dock to catch the launch over to the Poly for lunch, at the Kona Cafe.
When lunch was through, we stepped out to get the monorail back to the Grand, only to find that the afternoon storm had blown in. That put a slight hold on our
plans to head to Epcot. So instead, we did a last pass through of the stores at the Grand, finally picking up the things we'd been "thinking about" all week! LOL
We brought our things back to the room with us, because we needed to start packing up for our move to AKL the next day. We did a bit of packing while we got ready to go, and then left to make the trip around to TTC, switched monorails and headed off to Epcot. Since there was literally no line at all for SE as we passed by, we took a spin on this -- still one of my all time favs in Epcot! I love the exit area too, with the cool displays and things to "play with" from ATT! We spent a good bit of time here, with Evan really having fun with that game where you have a "partner" ?? I can't remember what it's called ..
We stopped by Innoventions again and while we were able to play a little there, I STILL couldn't get to one of the email postcard stations, as they were all being used. And in fact, I never got to one the entire trip - all full, all the time!
Instead, we caught Universe of Energy, and then checked out the Wonders of Life -- oddly enough, that's another one of Ev's favs.
By this time, we needed to be moving towards WS and France for our dinner, and on the way, stopped by Canada quickly to see "O Canada" and shop. It was strange seeing the "Chateau" there all covered up being rennovated.
After we had dinner at the Bistro, we were just in time to see Illuminations. We found an excellent spot with no trouble at all, and stayed for my personal favorite fireworks. I just love the music from Illuminations - listen to that and the TOD parade music in my car all the time! LOL
When Illuminations was finished, we decided to head back through International Gateway and catch the bus back to the MK from the YC and then on to the Grand from there. It really was much shorter than walking allllll the way to the front of the park and getting the monorail -- I'll have to remember this for future visits.
Once we had packed everything up, we sat on the balcony for our last evening at the Grand ..... just soaking it all in. The morning would bring a "change in venue" as well as 3 more people!, and so we finally turned in about 1 a.m.
Day 7, and moving to AKL in just a bit!
