I'm.........

I'm Nana and DH is Papa......that's what I called my grandparents

I like Nana and Papa.
I think were gonna have my DH called Papa

I am Babci to all my grandchildren! All my grandparents were born in Poland, and came to America in 1910’s.
I found it heartening when in WDW when our grands were much younger, and one would call Babci, other women would turn around too!

My best friend, who is Polish, called her grandma Babci.
I am 1/2 Hungarian and 1/2 Swedish and I looked up grandma in those 2 languages and they aren’t something that would suit me :sad2:

slo, I called both of my grandmothers Babci, and grandfathers Dzadzie. It just was natural for me to want to be called that. DH also had all his grandparents come from Poland in the 1910’s did not use “Dzadzie“ as I did and he’s called Grandpop.

 for a nice visit. So hard when you can't see them right away

My grandkids call their other grandparents Opa and Grammy....Opa is Greek

Had enough.......it's hard to be there when it is crowded and no fast passes.
The lines got so long, people were not socially distancing and at the resort out walking around with no masks.
I like being there but it was too long to sit in our room for that many hours.
Hopefully, next time will be better. We don't go again until January

And, I always like being home. Lots to keep be busy.

I’m helping DD all day with DGS.
She‘s feeling very overwhelmed and doesn’t want to be by herself (her DH has to work today and tomorrow and then he’ll be home next week). So, I’m gonna get groceries for her at 7am, then go to her house, then take her to the OBGYN (she’s having some issues and she’s not allowed to drive for 2 weeks), then stay with the baby while she takes a nap, them come to my home to make them dinner, then take dinner to her house and then I’ll be home at night unless she wants me to come back (her in-laws live 2 doors down from her, so I’m sure they will want to come over after work. Even if she wants me to return I’m going to encourage her to have me not so her in-laws have some private time with them). Busy day today.

I am going to do something today that as a 24 year old 40 years ago I told myself that I was going to do in retirement....today is that day!

In 1980 I was basically homeless, though today they call it wilding. Had a massive savings account so spent the first 7 months of 1980 sofa surfing. Helped my father with an august construction project, then he headed to Seattle to take his business to be with his girlfriend, I stayed at his place and mainted the yard. found a part-time teaching job in the remains of the Jimmy Carter Recession and Regan education cut. So no problem with rent, then Feburary of 1981 Dad rents the home and I have to move to Salem and find an aparment, utities and insurance....on half a paycheck...all of my college roommates had married and little room sharing available in early 80s.

so no TV. .... Spring break I walk over to the huge mall to a department store called Montgomery Wards. ( don't share that you shopped there, your age will show). The have this huge bank of TV sets and for the first time in my life I have a vacation from a job, so I spent the day watching the NACCA basketball tournament. no recliner, no snacks, just small chit chat with the occasional standing by customer. On that day I told myself, when I retired, I was going to watch those games....all four days from the comfort of my recliner.

Well, the chores are done, the wife ihas given me the green light, the recliner and snacks in postion, but the games don't start till 3:oo, short covid tourney.

but hey, it is covid paying the cable bill that we have not had since retiring to YUma....go OREGON STATE.....who in 1981 were the number #1 ranked team in nation....our hopes were high....and they go beat in the first round of the tourney, a #16 seed beat a #number 1 seed

and oh, by the way, after the school year ended, I was homeless again for another 5 years....and yes...US army is a very wild experince!!!!!!

After reading your post, I realized I had no idea that March Madness is beginning!

We are packing for a trip to TN. This is a trip all about friendship. Tomorrow stopping for dinner with VA friends, and we will be in their house without masks for dessert.

Dollywood gave some free passes to Passholders, so we invited our Ohio neighbors to come with us to Pigeon Forge, we will give them the passes to Dollywood and we will see each other. We have decided to try in person Mass this weekend. Oh my, we are beginning to do some normal things!

I remember those days........lots going on for a new mother......and great to get grand mothers' help

I’m taking DD & DGS to babies first doctor appointment today (DD isn’t allowed to drive for 2 weeks). I feel bad for DSIL, he had to return to work so he can’t go to this appointment. Praying for a good appointment and that the doctor feels that DGS is doing well.

Didn't get much sleep last night. We got called to baby sit so DS could take DIL to emergency.
She was having issues with her heart problem.
They kept her overnight so her cardiologist could come check on her.
