Im worried!!!!

We are taking £650 worth of euros for our upcoming 5 day trip. But in that is the £160 ish private transfer fee too that we have to pay.

I think, like someone else said, we'll use cash to pay for meals etc and then shop goods put on hotel chargecard and use whatever euros we have left plus balance on debit card if need be. That means we cut down on the bank charges too :)

We'd have done the half board vouchers if they were availiable to people staying off-site. Unfortunatly they aren't so we have to take enough to cover having meals out.

We went in August and I had exactly the same worries as you. I had planned to take £500 and in the end I took £600. We went for 4 nights and 5 days so we paid for 5 counter service lunches, we paid 20 euros each way on tolls. At night we ate at Cafe Mickey and didn't eat from the set menu (I prepaid for a cake before we left). We ate at Planet Hollywood which was just one course because we were all tired. We ate at Auberge de Cendrillon which took a huge chunk from the money as it was 55 euros each for me and DH and 26 euros for DD. On the last night we ate at Lucky Nugget but again I paid for this before we left which definately worked out cheaper.

DH and I don't drink either very often so there was no alcohol with this. Although we did buy one cocktail, one pint and a soft drink in the Redwood Bar one evening.

We also went on Panoramagique, hired a surrey bike, towels at the pool etc and bought a few souveniers. We also put 30 euros worth of petrol in car and bought 30 euros back with us!!!

I was worried about it before we went but to be honest we did have more than enough as we bought ice creams, snacks popcorn etc. DD had her own money for all the bits she bought.

I think £500 will be enough for you (providing you are not planning on having 3 courses at each restaurant).

Don't worry about it though and let it spoil your trip - I am sure you will have ample.

I found it easier to actually write down each day and guestimate how much you will spend on snacks, lunch, drinks etc.

ive done mine on a spreadsheet but im an IT geek

I wont tell you how much im taking for my 4 night 5/day trip in 4 weeks time but i know ill be on the expensive cocktails...and fine dining all the way..

sorry i think my last message was a bit showoffish..

It wasnt my intention to sound that way.

The wife is from overseas and this is the first time we have gone on holiday since our marriage so i want it to be special.

But back to the original post sara969. I am planning to go to some of the same restaurants on your list.

Looking at the menus for these restaurants on the food guides it shows them to be very expensive places to eat.. so in my opinion i think you should recalculate your budget

i hope this helps

Day 1: Cafe Mickey with a Birthday cake
Day 2: Planet Hollywood
Day 3: Annettes Diner
Day 4: Billy Bobs
Day 5: Rainforest Cafe

You can keep the costs down at these restaurants.

Cafe Mickey ~ you can choose from the 3 course set meal for €30 or you may not want 3 courses as the portions are HUGE!!! We always find this is the most expensive restaurant for us but it's well worth it.

Planet Hollywood ~ if you have a Brit's Guide there is a 20% discount voucher at the back.

Once you've eaten at Planet Hollywood/Rainforest they usually give you a voucher giving you 20% off the other within either 24 or 48 hours so it might be worth you swopping your days around. I think you may have to eat before 5pm or 6pm though but with a little one I don't suppose you'd mind that.

Also, it's very easy to think OMG that is so expensive but don't forget the prices on DLP Foodguide are in euros not pounds sterling. :goodvibes

WOW thanks for your replies, you are all sooo helpful and have made me feel much better.

Because my daughter will have her £100 spending money that is going to help us alot, as we will not need to dip into our £500 budget to buy, toys, soft toys, sovieners etc...
(We have already bought Hannah a Minnie Mouse Costume & ears, also Princess Belle dress, so she wont be buying costumes)

We wont be buying alcohol either which will cut down the costs.
Also when we usually go to resturants we dont normally order 3 courses as its tooo much, so we usually get a starter to share and the main course and are normally too stuffed for dessert.
Or if we dont order a starter we have a Main and then a dessert.
So its very unlikely that we will be splashing out on 3 courses.

I was planning to take some drinks into the park with us and some little snacks for my daughter, i will put them into her little rack sack....

Do they check your bags at the gates and if they find drinks and small snacks do they take it from you???

there is a bag check but from what i read it isnt very strict and they dont confiscate food as long as you dont have like a picnic basket with you lol

They won't take your drinks and snacks from you, don't worry about that.

Our bag was full of food and they did nothing so you will have nothing to worry about

Thats good news then :rotfl:
I will probably put a couple of cartoons of drink, crisps & choc in our bag for little snacks around the park.
We will grab lunch at one of the takeaway huts.... Perhaps a hotdog and a few chips ;)
Then treat ourselves to a meal in a nice resturant in the evening.

Sara I'm sure you will be ok :)

I took just over £500 for 5 days and in the end I spent most on gifts.

You will have a great time I know it. You could also pack some snacks etc in your case thats what i did with Kyra (not that she ate them lol).
