I'm venting here to keep me from exploding at work...

I have the first job of my life where I am comfortable. I can even wear short sleeved shirts. In previous jobs I had to wear a fleece jacket and turn on my heater. But I didn't inconvenience anyone else with it.

In this job I was so happy when summer came and I stayed comfortable. One day though it got chilly. So I just went to the clothing closet and got a jacket. My boss commented on it and I told her I was cold. It turns out that she was freezing - and it was because there was a meeting going on next to her office and they had cranked up the air. She made them turn it down. And told me that if I am ever cold then she is freezing. So our offices are probably warmer than a lot of people would like. She's the CEO and can make the rules - luckily this is one rule that I am super happy about.

I am a medical social worker and all the hospitals that I have worked in, space heaters were not allowed no matter what!! They are a fire hazard and suck up tremendous amounts of electricity. I would call the hospital facilities management and inquire if space heaters are authorized. If the answer is no then I would tell your selfish coworker, if she still persists I would rat her out. If this is not an issue, I am sorry but that space heater would mysteriously disappear!!

I used to work in an office that was freezing. I was the only one who was cold. You know what I did? I dressed warm! I wore heavy sweaters in July with pants and boots! I looked like a weirdo going to my car and my family used to laugh but I hated being cold. Your co-worker sounds like a selfish person. Oh- and 77 is not even cold! When my house is 77 we are ready to pass out!

Same here. Our cube farm is usually pretty cold, but everyone else is comfortable. So I have a sweater & a little blanket in case it gets too cold, and I usually drink hot tea to stay warm. But you have to dress somewhat cool, since it's supposed to be 107 degrees here today! :faint:

Sounds like OP's coworker is totally unconcerned about everybody else. The rest of you shouldn't have to sit there and be miserable, not to mention the expense of running AC AND a space heater. Time to narc on her. :thumbsup2

I had a similar problem at my job until the co-worker's space heater blew a fuse. Then she got in major trouble and had to take the heater home.
