Well, with these new tix and our trip so close (1/12) I felt really rushed as to whether to get the new package and now I feel like I screwed up and am losing money. Initially, before all of the broohaha, I bought from Hotwire 2 adult 4 day hopper passes and then got the bdp rate at Pop. Then the dining option came out and considering dh and I do sit down dinners each night, seemed like a steal. So I called early Sunday and was told I couldn't use the 2 hopper passes towards the package. So stupidly, I decided to get 5 nights at Pop, three days of tix with hopper feature and dining for a grand total of $1303, intending to use 4 day pass as well. Then I decided to try to sell my 4 days on ebay and then just up my 3 days to 7. Well, several problems - first, no one is bidding on my tix on ebay. Second, even if they do, I'm now being told at Disney that if I up my tix, I will be charged a "processing" fee for making the change even though I think there should be a grace period b/c of all of the changes. Third, I now find out that there is a AAA discount, but b/c I went through Disney, I can't get it - and if I change and cancel disney and then go through AAA, Disney will charge me a cancellation fee.

I'm really upset by all of this and feel like WDW is giving those of us with dates to WDW this month the run around b/c a) they wouldn't give us much info ahead of time; b) won't allow us to make changes without charging; and c) not permitting AAA rates.

Does anyone have any suggestions before I go insane? Thanks!

Okay....D-E-E-P breath. Ex-hale.

If there are no bids on your auction, you can cancel it and keep the PHPs. You'll lose your listing fee but not your shirt.

Keep your 3-day MYW hoppers the way they are. Hopefully you got them with no expiry. You're going to use them completely on this trip.

Use the PHPs on this trip after you've used up the MYW passes. Keep any leftover days and pluses for another visit to WDW. They'll never expire.

There's nothing you can do about the AAA discount on the package, so let it go. Chances are that the price of cancelling and rebooking will exceed the penalty fee you'd pay.

I know it's not much consolation but I do agree that Disney should have allowed a little more of a heads up to this major change. Thank you for posting about it though. It will give anyone else in the same situation a point of reference and perhaps they won't get caught in rush like you did.

Sorry about what happened to you but I'm now going through the same thing. I have to educate myself about MYW and re-do my entire September trip. Thankfully, we booked it that far in advanced but I'm anxious to see if I get any penalty charges when I start to re-arrange with Disney. We booked the Gold Package at the Poly which gives us Ultimate Park Hopper tickets for 9 nights. I know that with the new pricing system that I can come out cheaper and I hope to get some money back. Pray for me!

Also, I love reading your advice Mad4 lol. You rock! :)

thanks - I appreciate the advice - I'm trying to just enjoy the idea I'm going to WDW which I love - but with my desire to save every last dime, it upsets me to feel like I'm being screwed by the place I love. I am taking very deep breaths right now . . . :)

I am fretting too, I know how you feel. I have totally extended myself money wise this trip and my son and husband can care less if we even go!!!!

Now, I have the flight tickets booked, so I would lose that money if I cancel, can't afford to travel later in the year.

Good Luck--I feel your pain

Okay, I'm not 100% sure if this will work. But you could call Disney and ask if you could reschedule your vacation, like your current 1/12 ressies ask if you can change them to June. If they allow it, they will consider it a "transfer" of reservation and not a cancel of reservation then you could call the next day, or later the same day and cancel the June ressies with no penalty.

If this works, then you can go ahead and book the AAA vacation you had in mind. Also if you cancel, then I assume you are no longer "stuck" with the MYW tickets. Then I would try to take the hoppers you have and upgrade them when you get there. Just smile, act very polite, and tell them what you'd like them to do to make you happy. If they say there is a processing fee you very politely but firmly tell them that you would have purchased the MYW tickets if Disney had been more forthcoming with info, keep insisting to speak to higher up management if needed. Don't lose your cool, remain very friendly but firm.

You're going to have a great trip. In the end, even if you spend a bit more, you're still in Disney world!!

Just wondering if this has worked for you or anybody you know?? It's very clever! pirate:

Actually, I read about doing that here on these boards!! I thought it was a great idea too, but that's why I'm not 100% sure it will work since I hadn't tried it, but the idea seems solid enough.

I had everything down to the last penny on a budget and now since i waited to buy my hopper tix they changed it all around ...I am soooooo confused also... Now i got to pull around 200 bucks out of my you know what and it isnt there to pull out....Trying to lol about it...I just didnt want to buy them early since we were not 100% we were going....And now they changed everything... AAA had 4 day hopper now 2005 they dont and they have the tax included in the price but the disney store tax is not included but they have the hopper and all the pluses and whatever they all are ....Then of course i ask them a zillion questions and they didnt even know half the answers..... AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHh........Ok i had to screammmSORRY NEXT TIME I WILL BUY IN ADVANCE ...LESSON TAUGHT NOW.... LOL ...

now i'm even more upset b/c found out that a restaurant I specifically made ressies for b/c it was a part of the reg sit down dinner - le cellier - now is a signature rest so I have to use 2 sit down dinners? and this change wasn't made until after I paid! now I feel like I'm being screwed again and I'll still have to pay for another meal even with the meal plan! I'm really getting upset with WDW and feel like I'm getting screwed.

the above idea sounds great, but b/c everything is so close, I'm really afraid to try it and then find out no rooms are available!

I am also upset with DIsney changing their signature restaurants. I had reservations for Brown Derby and Le Cellier and they changed these to signature restaraunts which equals 2 meals on the new dinning plan. I was going to get a AAA package but today found out that Disney will not honor the quote my AAA agent got last night for me. And now I hear hotwire is out of the vochers! This is all too frusterating! I think I need a more relaxing vacation maybe in Cancun or something. :earseek:

i think I'm going to call tomorrow, complain about the change and see if I can just get my room at the bdp rate back and just use the tix i already had.

I don't think it will work quite that way with a package.

When you book a room-only, you can make changes up until the day before you arrive with no penalties. Thus, changing the dates, and then later cancelling, might work.

However, with a package, there is a change fee once you are within 45 days of arrival (when you made your final payment). I believe it's $50 or $60. Unless you can save much more than that by rebooking with AAA, it's probably not worth even trying...IMHO. :D
