After reading a couple of Browneye's posts, I still can't for the life of me figure out what White Castle's are/is

Could someone fill me in?
Hopelessly confused

Jan,

We've never had them up here in MA, but if I am not mistaken, they are little, teeny, tiny SQUARE hamburgers. You buy them by the sackful.

Debbie

White Castle hamburgers! Tiny steamed hamburgers with onions and pickles on little square buns! An institution in some parts of the US, but unavailable in other parts:

White Castle

Yep. DH and I call them "Whitie-one-bites". Some people love them, some people hate them. A lot of people only eat them when they have been out drinking most of the night because they are open 24 hours a day and a half a sack full of those little klunkers will soak up any alcohol left in your stomach!

I've seen White Castles & Krystals available in grocers' freezer sections. Maybe you can find them there.

Ok now I have another question. How small are these little, teeny, tiny hamburgers? :Pinkbounc

Maybe about 2 1/2 inches by 2 1/2 inches square.

We call them "rats with hats." LOL!

I would say that they are about 3 inches square. They have holes in them arranged like the "5" side of a dice. The holes allow the steam to come through and cook the burgers.

White Castles and Krystals are the same thing if you have one of them near by.

back home in columbus, ohio they were referred to as sliders!!!

never personally had them but i knew lots of people that would go there after the bars closed. they are one of those places that you either love or hate. no in between.

LOL jldriscoll! I was reading this thread thinking, "Ewwwww!" LOL!! :teeth:

Yep, they are called sliders here (and those who have eaten them know why). I cannot imagine eating them after a night of drinking though Marilyn. They may drink up alcohol, but they sure leave a ton of grease in your stomach. I have just one work for these ICK!!!!!!

White Castle started in Wichita, Kansas but relocated to St. Louis and parts beyond.

Used to have one here a long time ago, never really liked them, they are edible though.
