Well ladies & gentlemen, I have survived hurricane Frances. I haven't posted on here due to the fact that I was without power until a little while ago. Let me give you a recap of what happened...

Tanya & I went to her mothers' house the evening the eye came about 10 miles away from the coast. That was a tough night. The winds really picked up around 8 that night & it was pouring everywhere. We stayed in the living room until about midnight when we heard a weird "pop" sound. We went to look out the windows in the house (they were extremely taped up so it was hard to peek out) & we saw tree branches close to the house. Turns out a huge tree broke & missed the roof by about 4 inches. After trying to get them calmed down we resumend watching the news until about 3 in the morning when power went out.

We all tried to sleep shortly after but it was ill-fitted... I snagged about 3 hours when I stumbled outside to a grey haze and saw how horrible the damage was... There were tree limbs everywhere. Later that evening Tanya's father brought out a 5,000 watt generator for us to use. Excellent, we could now power fans seeing as how it was about 85+ outside. The next few days consisted of us being miserably hot and trying to find gas. We finally did on the reservation and luckily no one else used the place much. We loaded up with 4 five gallon tanks, 2 three gallon tanks, & 4 one gallon tanks.

Finally we got fed up and started calling around for rooms to stay in at hotels. We lucked out & got the all-star music for 3 days @ $50 a day. When we got in the a/c filled room we almost cried as we took our first hot shower in almost a week... Well, power came on today right before we got home; which happened to be the day we had to leave the resort. All I can say is thank you everyone who prayed for us here in Florida, it means so much to us all.

Leaving on a final note, if you can find it in your hearts to donate to the red cross or a hurricane disaster relief fund, everyone would appreciate it. The red cross is tapped out on money and there are still several thousand without power & water counting on those kind souls to deliver them a hot meal & a few bottles of water a day.

What an ordeal. I'm glad you and your family made it through alright.

I'm glad you're alright... what a mess!

Tell Tanya's father he was LUCKY to find a generator! They are in short supply nowadays!

Welcome back to the real world, JoNo! :wave2:

Glad to have you back. I will continue to keep FL in my prayers.

Glad to see everyone's ok in your family.

So glad you made it through. Nice to see you back on the DIS too.:D

Glad you guys are alright! I trust that Lady Nola is okay too?

Yeah, she was pretty shaken up by it, but she's doing good now. I just hated to have her in the heat we were in.:(
