This probably or probably not have been discuss and Im not in the mood to go looking thru hundreds of post to find this topic! however..........................

WTH is Disney thinking??????????????

So QS plan = refillable mug

Deluxe = refillable mug

Premium = refillable mug

Platinum = refillable mug

but not PLUS!!!!!

Really your joking!!! and the CM got snippy with me on the phone when i question him about it! Hmph!

I want my refillable mug! yeah yeah I know just buy it when I get there! But NO! That not the point I'm paying $$ for the dining plan plus I want my mug included!!

ok done ranting

This probably belongs on the DDP subforum...

Disney feels no need to include the mug in with their most popular plan, as plenty of people buy it without the mug. Why they feel it's a good deal "sweetener" for the other packages is probably found in stacks of surveys and cost/revenue reports.

What is now the basic or regular dining plan (sometimes referred to as "dining plus" since the quick service plan was initiated) never included a refillable mug. This is still by far the most popular dining plan (I understand Disney sells more of the regular dining plan than it does of the deluxe and quick service plans combined) and Disney has seen no need to change it to include a mug. Many guests consider it "unfair," but there is no way to get a mug included at no extra cost with that plan.

It does suck, but this is totally true.

But, the $$ you are paying for the dining plan you selected don't include a mug so there is no "my mug" to include.

Perhaps the deluxe plan or no plan at all would be a better option for you.'

Have you compared how much you would spend if you didn't have a dining plan to the costs of the plan you currently have?

I understand everyone! In the long run u r paying for the mug ur not getting it for free! I'll pay the darn 12 dollars or what whatever it cost! Just would be nice to have that included as well for a discount! Since I'm paying xxxx amount of dollars!!! But it is what it is!!! Just surprise that the plus plan is the only plan excluded in this!

I have the dining plus! I like the idea of going an not have to worry paying for most of my food cause its taken care of! But I hoping we eat as much as I'm paying! Hahaha! Just not too much dont want to over eat!!

To be honest, i never knew when we would use the mugs much. You can only use it at your resort.. If you are eating resort CS breakfast on any of the dining plans, you get drink overload anyway. If you are in the parks during the day,you cant use it and it becomes something to keep up with.

i do have one from each resort we've stayed at, only because that is my one souvenier. I dont buy one for all the kids and they have never cared. They would prefer something else instead. Now that all the mugs are the same and i already have one, i wont buy another. (hear that disney? Bring back the resort specific souveniers!)

Amen! ITA!:lmao: I never found a BLT pin last Dec.!:rolleyes: I'm also another one that never used the refillable mug.... I was too lazy to walk down to the food place at the Poly!:rotfl2:

Why do you need a mug anyway? Drinks are included with the plan.

I see what everyone is saying about not needing to add an incentive to buy the most popular plan, but when EVERY OTHER plan includes the mug, you feel like you're being left out.

OP, if you think it will be worth it (you'll go to your resort's refill area enough times to justify it), put a line item for them in your budget, take that money and the instant you check in go buy one. Over time you'll forget you had to do it separately. :)

This is an honest question, but do you need the mug? I have NO clue where I'd fit all that liquid in my body. You get giant drinks with DDP meals and you can sub in bottled water for QS desserts. Not to mention you can use snack credits for drinks. Plus, water from the machines is free at QS establishments. And, if you're onsite at a mod or higher, there's an in-room coffee maker.

It wouldn't occur to me to buy a mug!

I can honestly say I have never felt like I was being left out. It's a purchase that I knew the components of before I purchased it. It's not personal-it's a business transaction.

Sure, but the "no mug" with the basic plan goes back to when there were no other plans. And if you really want a mug included, you need to buy one of the less popular plans.

In Disney's view, if you decide you'd rather have the QS plan, that takes you out of the stiff competition for TS restaurant reservation slots. If you go with the deluxe plan, you pay a good bit more money.

Because the vast majority of guests who purchase a dining plan purchase the basic plan, it's actually helpful to offer an incentive to purchase a different plan.

It's the most popular plan, and, they'll get even more money when you buy the mug anyway. It's all about the $$$$$.

I think it depends on the time of year you go to an extent. For our family it's "against the law" to use a snack credit for a drink. I think my husband might literally fall over. :eek: It's not a good use of the credit. We normally get a breakfast out of our snack. If you have the mug that is a free drink to go with it. Our mugs are used more for in the resort area. So while we are by the pool or in the room in the evenings it's nice to not have to go pay $2 for a bottle of coke. Over the course of a week it adds up quickly and the cup pays for itself. I guess we are just backwards though because we always get bottled water in the park in the summers with our meals and then also have a mug for the mornings. During the hot months you can drink like a camel and still be parched!

Is it possible the CM 'got snippy' based on the manner in which you questioned him about a policy over which he has no control?

At any rate - any Guest who wants a mug included in their dining plan simply needs to choose a dining plan which includes a mug. It's easy to do, since 80% of the plans include mugs, and only 20% don't. That 20% - one - is the original dining plan. It NEVER included a mug. There's no incentive for Walt Disney World to change that.

Or more simply, just budget the $14ish per person -- put it on a gift card if you feel the need -- and buy the mug if you really want it.

I don't get people who can't figure out the value of the mug for some people. Let me give you a couple simple illustrations.

Coffee in the morning
Water/cold beverage when returning from the park on a hot day

We don't spend our QS credits at our resort because we want to get to the parks. So either we pay for coffee, or we use the mug. We could blow a snack I guess, but those are for Mickey Mouse ice cream bars. :)

Granted, it isn't saving a lot of money. Over the course of the week it might be savings us a couple bucks. But it goes home as a souvenir. In fact, I use one every day for the drive to work. It has absolutely paid for itself in my case.

All that said, I've never complained about the dining plan not including it. It has never included it.
