I'm so very sad.

To clarify for everyone who wasnt in the van that day...;)

Karissa had just watched Princess Diaries right before we went to pick up ZachnElli and her kids. SO any time someone would say anything she would say " Shut UP!" just exactly like Anne Hathaway in Princess Diaries. :) LOL

Its just one of her quirks I guess but she can perfectly mimick many people. This is both good and bad LOL and the primary reason we dont get her around people who swear a lot :o .

The more I read Binny the more I'm convinced our kids are the same but I have the male version. :p

The things John will repeat. :o :teeth:

Binny,
I just thought Fishbone's post was so wonderful and on those really hard days and weeks (and sometimes months), you need to remind yourself of how special both you and your child are. You sound like you are doing a great job as a loving and caring mom. Hope next week is better.

Some people just don't get it, do they? What a rude thing to say about your child! I'm so sorry that ignorant woman hurt you like that. It's true, it is worse when people hurt your child than when they hurt you.

You sound like a very loving and understanding mom. Also, it's great that you are advocating for your daughter by getting her further testing, etc. I used to teach children with learning disabilities, and there's rarely a definitive cause for them. Please don't feel that it's anything you've done or not done. I'm sure you help your daughter to be the best that she can possibly be. She's blessed to have you.

Hugs to you and your daughter. I'm sorry you had such a bad day. Hope things get better soon. Please don't take peoples bad comments to heart (though I know how hard it is not to), some people speak before they think and have no empathy for anyone. Things will get better, I promise!

binny -- Thank you for taking the time to explain. So many of you have been like family on this board for such a long time that I sometimes feel like I'm intruding. :D

Don't feel bad about looking into CAPD on your own. Most doctors have such a heavy workload that they sometimes don't have the time to research things as fully as they'd like to. Just gather as much info. as you can and then ask him for a referral to any specialist that might be able to help you.

But in the meantime...keep your chin up and don't let rude people get you down. Just remember you've got over 65,000 friends right here. :sunny:

calypso dont ever feel like you're intruding! :)

We are a big family here but we, like any other good family, always have room for more! :)

People may not always get along but I think deep down we all care very much about each other here :)

Its a very unique community.

Binny--I've had the week from hell at work, and am just now seeing this.

I am utterly INCENSED on your behalf.

I think Heidi (Fishbone†) said it best. She has a way with words, that one.

From what I know of you, and have seen, you are an AMAZING mom, wife, and all around good guy (girl).

I'm sorry you had such a crummy day, but Ih ope you will take to heart what everyone else here said.

You know, I'm for the most part a fairly even-tempered, tolerant person.

But I swear, if any adult had said something like that not just in front of my child but in front of ANY child I would have lost it.

"Crazy? Nah, she's just as sane as YOU are."

I would have had no problem at all pointing out how incredibly rude and ill-mannered she was.

The total and complete nerve of some people.

OTOH I've found that if you totally lay into someone ignorant like that, and can manage to do it with a calm manner and a smile on your face, it confuses the heck outta them.

Hi Binny,

Follow your gut instincts on what's really going on.

I worked with kids with disabilities and their families for several years before I had my own children.

The moms were right 99.999999% of the time, regardless of how many drs. were telling them otherwise. No one knows your daughter better than you do!

If you are able, videotaping your daughter and giving the tape to the dr. could be useful for your plan of treatment. And, if the dr. is too busy to watch it, it's time to find another dr. (I know, I know, but 15 minutes is not too much to ask!)

Hang in there! And, remember to write down these memories! Hopefully they will give you comfort and perspective in the future.

:hugs:
