or sad.. I already have reservations for Labor Day weekend at POP. I called to get AP rate on my reservation. In the past they have applied. Who knew they changed the way they did things. I was told there are no rooms available so they can not apply the AP rate. Since when, :confused3 .
I was told CS is available w/AP and they are giving me a price for a couple of dollars more then I am paying for POP. The only thing CR food court is not what I am looking for for this trip.

I guess I will wait for Florida Resident Rate... I don't think I want to go to DIsney anymore. I'm disapointed.

Just needed to vent..  :guilty:  :scared:

I don't think they have a lot of opening for POP at all. I had the same problem but I just ended up going to a moderate.

This has ALWAYS been the policy.

There MUST be rooms available at the AP rate for your reservation to be changed. If there are no rooms at your hotel, then they cannot change you the to AP rate. This is not a change, you have probably just been lucky in the past.

This is a recurring theme on here, the "I can just get my room rate changed". As your post shows that is not true. There must be AP rooms avaiable at your hotel on your dates. Having an AP does not gurantee you AP rate room even if there are "rates" during your stay.

Then I must be very lucky many times..(we go very often, living 45 minutes from Disney) and as per the CM herself said "this is a new policy".

No its been like that for a very long time. They only have so many rooms at the passholder rate and once they reach that quota they dont give anymore at that resort, even if you have a room or if they have rooms available.

Carol is correct. This has always been the policy. Many folks try to remind folks of this. I've been an AP holder since 1995 and this is exactly the way it works. Just like Carol said, there has to be availability at your resort with the discount in order for you to get the discount applied. THis is why is actually hurts your chances of getting a discount by booking a room a regular rate to hopefully get it adjusted later. This gives Disney the false since of room availability. Disney sees no reason to offer a discount at Pop because the rooms are booked. The key to getting a discount is always, flexibility and luck.

Pop is a huge pain to get into. I think it is the nicest of the value resorts. I like the lobby the best. I enjoy the food court there. I hate the all star lobbys. They just could be a bit more than they are. They are so stark and bare.

I am so upset! I've waited and waited for the AP discount and there are no rooms available. What is going on? Do you think they are really limiting the number of rooms? And why is it only certain hotels????

They've limited the number of rooms for as long as I've been an AP holder, that's nothing new....And the reason why only certain resorts have AP rates id because the ones that don't are pretty full already. AP rates are released to sell unsold rooms, it makes perfect sense.

This is the way it's always been. If a hotel is already full they don't need to discount rooms there. There are a limited number of rooms at each hotel at the discount as well and if they are gone they are gone. If your trip rests on getting a discount then you have to be flexible about where you stay.

like posted above, as long as I have been a AP holder..(well over 10 years now) that has been the policy! And when buying AP's there has never been a guarantee for a discount at all times.

I just called and Movies was not available for the AP discount, but they did offer me POP. If I were you I would try again.

This has always been the case. We have been AP holders since the late 90's. In the past you may have just been lucky that the room type in the resort you wanted had an AP rate avaiable.

Since AP rates are determined based on occupancy rates at the resorts why would they offer a discount on a room type at a resort if they have already have their target number booked at the rate they want? They are offering a discount on CSR because they do not have the number of rooms booked that they want.

CSR over POP for just a few dollars more a night is a deal and if those are your only two choices then go for it.

Nothing has changed though.
