I never thought I would be this excited!

Everything is FINALLY starting to come together!!!! AND I'M SO EXCITED!!! Hojo has the entertainment rate for all but one of the dates we're staying there (And honestly, we really didn't expect them to have the entertainment rate for Feb 14th)! Our flights are booked, everything seems to FINALLY be coming into place. I'm so excited :cool1:

The only thing I'm really missing now are the tickets. I have read a bunch of these forums (yet, can't seem to find them now... does anyone else seem to have problems with the search feature of this thing?) and getawaytoday seems to be a good option. I remember someone saying something about lanyards with pouches that close like a ziplock or something, do these come with the getawaytoday tickets? If not where do I get them?

My second question is about photo shares... I'm still a little confused on what and how these work I've read a couple forums. So basically there are people around the park that will take your picture, you give them a number or the card and when you upload your pictures they will be ready and waiting for you? What's the benifit of this photopass? Do a lot of Vetran DL people get it?

I would also like to thank everyone who has answered my previous questions. Without this forum I would be at a complete loss and I know that my first DL trip would not be as magical!!!

I feel just like a kid again!

I can answer your question about the photo pass. Around the parks, there are cast members with cameras who will take your picture. I saw them by the partner statue, matterhorn, tower of terror, and other "notable" places. I've seen how they'll do something like have everyone point to a spot on the ground, and then they digitally put Stitch in that spot so it looks like you're pointing at Stitch popping out the ground. I've also seen pictures where little girls hold out the palm of their hand and then they put tinkerbell there.

Anyway, after they take your picture, they give you a little card. You bring all your cards home, type in the number, and then you can access your pictures (I think you can also do this in the park). At that time, you can also edit your pictures by putting borders on them and other options. You can order individual prints, or order a CD with all prints so that you can get it printed yourself. The issue is that the CD is expensive (maybe $60-$90 range). And individual 5x7 prints are also in the $10 range, I think. I'm not positive on prices because it wasn't worth it to me, so I didn't order any.

Also, what people will do is group together and put all of the combined images in one account so that you can order the CD, split the cost, and make copies for everyone in the group.

From what I could tell online, there are a lot more options for photopass for WDW guests and not as much for DLR guests. If you want to do it, you'll have to take a lot of pictures so that you can get your money's worth out of it.

Getawayatoday offers lanyards with their tickets. If these are the standard travel angency lanyards then it is basically a thick plastic 'wallet' that opens, and stays open, on the top and is vertical, not horizontal. These are good enough to hold you park hopper passes and fast passes and a room key. If you want something a bit nicer or cuter then there are character lanyards and lanyard wallets on ebay. I just ordered my MIL a cute tinker bell one at it was only $7 after shipping. I haven't seen it in person but she says it has a little change purse on the side to hold money and stuff. Also, here is a link for a small version of Witz waterproof lanyard and wallet:

I have one of these in blue and really like that it closes tight and it's pretty :cutie:. These Witz have a bigger version that is suppose to be big enough to hold keys and possibly a cell phone. Mouse Shoppe does not carry the bigger version.

Sorry I can't help you with the photo pass question. I am sure someone will be along shortly to answer it for you!

I think GAT has been highly recomended around here because of its 2 MM offering. However, in 2009 they are no longer offering 2, just 1 MM like all the other ticket companies. I dont think the lanyard is anything special.

Because of GATs change, I would look into purchasing from Disney so that I have my e-ticket in hand and do not have to worry about getting in line to exchange my GAT voucher.

Or, there is another travel company whose 5 day hoppers are $10 less expensive than both Disney and GAT. And although I have only looked at 5 day hoppers, I assume the other options are less expensive also.
** sorry I am unfamiliar with the rules as to if I can type the name of the company. (But I will tell you it starts with an A) Guess I need to familiarize myself with board rules**

We are going in January. I am going to be purchasing tickets from Disneyland.com. I've never used any travel sites before. Just make sure if you use them that you're getting the kids price for your tickets. From January to April Disneyland is offering all people tickets at the kids price.

Personally, we never get a photopass. I don't care for the cheesy photos they have people pose for. Sometimes we do have the cast members take photos of us using our own camera though. They are nice about doing that. So we get nice photos of the two of us in front of the castle and stuff. However, I don't really feel like DLR has that many photo taking cast members...especially not compared to all of the ones we saw at WDW.

Wow thanks everyone!!! I'll be sure to check out the mouseShoppe! And I don't think that I'll be doing the photopass... I don't think that it will be as fun for my friends and I, we have no kids, why spend the money?

You can actually buy a lanyard at many different places around the parks, and they will be a bit more upscale from those that you get from a travel agent. I have only seen travel companies provide the lanyards when a hotel/ticket package is purchased. We are getting our tickets from the local Disney Store as soon as they have the 2009 tickets in.

When are you going? My family and 5 families of friends will all be at HOJO from Feb. 14-21.

Regarding the photo pass. You only need to get a card once. Just hand the same card to the photographer when you get your picture taken. (You can get a new card, if you lose yours, or forget it, or have your party seperate) It is just easier with less cards to upload.

One tip that someone gave me once. Take a picture of your photo pass card number. That way if you lose the card, you can still upload the number and get the pictures.

Hope you have a wonderful trip!

The lanyards are exactly as this poster describes. I just got ours for our upcoming trip. The are bright white - with the blue and yellow getaway today logo and the slogan We're #1 in low-price fun all over them. They came with buzz lightyear pins.

I heard that GAT does not send the lanyards if you're only getting tickets-- you get the lanyards, etc. if you are purchasing a package with hotel and stuff. I'm assuming this is correct because we're now T-minus 6 days out and we haven't received anything from them. We just go to the ticket window with i.d. to get our tickets.

That said, I think I'd rather get a lanyard on my own, something cute with Disney on it. Especially if I were going to start pin trading (which I don't, because I know myself, and if I started, I'd never stop! :rotfl: ) We received one from Costco in March, and it wasn't all that. For myself, I like to keep my tickets, FPs, room keys etc in a slim little wallet deep in my front pocket-- feels more secure to me that way! :)

As a PP said, GAT isn't going to be the same fabulous deal for tickets anyway, since no more 2 MMs in 2009. I would maybe try Ares travel; I believe those are about $5 cheaper than the Disney Travel price. You can also obtain parkhoppers at a Disney store, if there's one near you. Call and ask if they have the one you want; sometimes they're out of the 4-day, 5-day or whatever.

Good to know, thanks! We only got 3 or 4 and I thought to myself "I can't imagine getting dozens of these pictures, what a bunch of card to have to keep track of!"
