DH and I are expecting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was two days late and took a test this afternoon. It came back positive!!!:cool1:   I took another one about an hour ago..and that too was positive. DH wants me to call the dr tomorrow to confirm it (which i already planned on doing) . I can't wait to tell my family and friends. But i figured the boards would be the best way to let some of my excitement out!

Congrats! Most folks around here wait 12 weeks, but might tell close family and friends after the 7 week u/s. I wish I could do it all over again! :lovestruc

Congratulations!!! So exciting, especially the first time. Enjoy every moment of your special time, it goes by fast.:)

By the way, on the subject of letting everyone know, I NEVER waited to tell my family. After I showed my husband the pregnancy test I shouted it to anyone who would listen. Yes I know you're supposed to wait three months to be safe. There's no way that was gonna happen. I am a girl who would search the house for her Christmas presents, find them, and if they were wrapped I would unwrap them, look at them, and re-wrap them. Terrible I know. I'm still such a child.

Just out of curiosity, why do ppl. say you're supposed to wait 12 weeks to be "safe"

Because 20% of all known pregnancies end in m/c, and 80% of them happen before 12 weeks. I told everyone right away with my first (it was unexpected), and 3 friends were pregnant along with me. By 12 weeks, I was the only one left. Getting the news out that you are no longer pregnant is not as fun as telling people you are. I think it's okay to tell people you are really close to, as long as they know it's a secret. This is what I found:

Miscarriage is the loss of a pregnancy in the first 20 weeks. About 15 to 20 percent of known pregnancies end in miscarriage, and more than 80 percent of these losses happen before 12 weeks. This doesn't include situations in which you lose a fertilized egg before you get a positive pregnancy test. Studies have found that 30 to 50 percent of fertilized eggs are lost before a woman finds out she's pregnant, because they happen so early that she goes on to get her period about on time.

Congratulations and I wish you the best. When I found out I was pregnant I was going to wait and then I thought about if something happened my mother and mother in law would be devastated that Dh and I did not tell them. We ended up telling our immediate family only and then once I went to the Doctor which was around 10 weeks we told everyone else.

^ Good information.

My roommate in my last year of college went around telling everyone she was pregnant as soon as she found out about 3 weeks in, and I mean everyone: teachers, friends, family, etc. Her boyfriend proposed to her and two days later she was in the hospital with a m/c.
