I'm so bummed...No Segway!

I called today to book Around the World on a Segway for my husband's birthday (12/31) and they're booked full the entire week we're there. :sad1: He would have gone crazy over that, because he's always had a huge fascination for the Segways. I realize they have the instruction class where you ride around inside, but I just don't see that being nearly as much fun.

Can anyone recommend another tour or activity that's strictly for adults and somewhat exciting? The ride-along on the race car is too expensive for both of us to do, so that one's out. Any other ideas?

Thanks!

By the way, if anyone plans on cancelling the Segway tour, please let me know! :flower3:

How about Parasailing? think the cost would be about comperable if you go tandem, the view is fabulous, and pretty exciting!

Much sympathy for your segway tour, wanted to take our best friends in August, but the big guy is a little too big! :)

Have a great trip!!

keep trying... I did the segway tour in June with my 18 y/o ds and 2 of his friends and it was AWESOME... however, the tour was for 10, and only 7 people showed up....
It was one hour of practice in Innoventions, then one hour at the WS. DH took pictures in Innoventions and when we came back from WS... I'm still trying to find out who had the camera from our pics at WS. They let you play around for about 30 minutes when no one else is around. The 3 18 y/o boys had so much fun.... racing, riding straight at each other to see who would stop.
If you have a Disney Visa it reduces the price too!!!
I have told my daughter and husband they need to do this also.
It is NOT for people with foot problems as the segway is run by "lean your feet forward, lean your feet back"... by the end of the hour of training my feet were very sore.... but it improved tremendously when we were on the long haul to Epcot.
The teenagers thought it was GREAT!!! and since I didn't get the pics I thought, they are all ready to go do it again!!!!!!!
But... keep asking!!!!!!!!!

Ava31- Just a shot in the dark...

try calling the res center, and ask if you can be put on a waiting list, and give them a couple days that you can be available, and also the number of your hotel.

I'm not sure if they still do that, but I do know there will be cancellations at the last minute, and occasional "no-shows" for this tour.

This tour is worth the extra effort!

When I called a few weeks ago to schedule for October, they told me to call back. How far in advance are they taking reservations now?

Thanks to everyone for their replies!

Kaybird - Parasailing is the next choice. I just have a hard time letting go of the Segway because DH would go bananas over it! He's a techie-type, so anything progressive thrills him. :surfweb:

That's good to know! I plan on calling once a week (maybe even every other day!) to see if anything comes up. I figure our best chance is 48 hours prior when people are cancelling to keep their credit cards from being charged.

FlyingLizard - I begged to be put on a waiting list, but she said our best chance is checking in now and then to see if anyone cancels. Maybe when I call tomorrow, I can get a different story from someone else.

Heart - The lady that I spoke to told me that they were booked solid from 12/27 until 1/1, so they must be booking at least 6 months in advance. I'd definitely call back and get someone else if I were you. Good luck!

You seem to be going at a real popular time to be at Disney. Do what everyone says and keep asking. I did the short one inside Innovations. Its pretty fun but depending on who is helping you with the Segway you can either go ride around on your own or youll be doing just what they say. You are in a little course thing so you wont be going that far. Also the free training thing was open when it wasnt that crowded. During Memorial Day weekend they didnt have the free tour but the week before and after they had it open to anyone. The little training is pretty fun even though its really short and Im sure its nothing compared to the 2 full length tours they have on it.

They actually charge the credit card for the entire price of the tour when you make the reservation; the 48 hours is just the latest you can cancel and get a refund. DH, DS17, and I took the tour a few weeks ago, and we loved it. I have a detailed review of the experience in Day 2 of my trip report:

Keep trying -- good luck!
