I'm Sick. Anyone else?

My son had a carbon copy of what I'm coming down with. I did everything possible to avoid this... washed hands until they were ready to fall off, wouldn't let him near me, got plenty of sleep and drank gallons of fluids. ARG! I got it anyway.

Sore throat, coughing and I'm sure it will soon go into the blow your nose until you look like Rudolph stage. If you can get signature colds, this would be mine.

So anyone else have a bug that's going around in your part of the world? Pass the Robitussin!

I hope you get over it quickly. Try Zicam! I swear by it. I'm prone to illness and I always take it at the first sign of a scratchy throat or sniffles and it always nips it in the bud, or severely shortens the cold. At least, it works for me!

Everyone around me is sick right now, so I've got to get to the store to buy me some.

Pretty much everyone on campus has had nasty viruses, colds, etc. I've had plenty of colds in the last couple weeks, but am surprisingly healthy now. I still haven't caught the real nasty one going around campus, and am crossing my fingers that I don't. But yeah, there's plenty of stuff going around here, and my stepdad was sick when I was home this weekend. I was sick the last couple weeks.
Feel better fast!!

I don't have a cold, but will be home sick today because somehow I have hurt my knee. Just going to stay off it and relax today.

I hope you feel better soon! It is going around, along with a stomach bug! Sounds like a nice hot shower is in store for you, A fresh pair of PJ's, some chicken soup, the couch with some tv or a book.

So far my youngest has had it, then me and now my 15 yr old. We leave for disney on the 22nd I hope its through making the rounds by then.

Hubby had it a few days before we left for WDW, I got it the day before we left (it was hard going through the parks with 50 tissues, a runny nose and cough but I usually felt better during the day- it was worse at night) and the baby had a slight runny nose. After we thought DH was over it, we got home and he got it worse and ended up with walking pnuemonia! He is just finishing the antibiotics ($117 for the rx and we have insurance!).

We were the family that didn't rest when we were sick and we paid for it!

Try Zicam! I swear by it. I always take it at the first sign of a scratchy throat or sniffles and it always nips it in the bud, or severely shortens the cold. At least, it works for me!

Question. Do you use the swabs? I heard some nasty stuff about them last winter (of course after I had already bought them)... something to do with a few people permanently losing their sense of smell after they used them. Does Zicam come in another form besides the swabs?

Zicam also comes in a nasal spray. I have used it with no problems.

I guess there is something going around the schools here. My guys all came down with bad cold symptoms and I stayed home and away from people so I wouldn't get it. I am still treating the asthma I got after a bad virus in the Spring. I had hoped the asthma would go away by now.....but, sadly, no.

Last week I caught this ugly thing and, of course, I am worse than they were! Coughing, headaches, fever, stuffed up head.....UGH! I had it most of this past week and I was feeling better on Monday but yesterday it rebounded. Today I feel better than yesterday but still coughing and can't breathe thru my nose! I think I need a white blood cell booster!

I'd never heard that about the swabs, but I didn't have any problems with them (I've been using them for a few years). There are other forms, like the nasal spray like Mtblujeans mentioned, but I think there's something you can spray in your mouth, but I'm not sure of that.

We are on round 3 of this nasty thing and it stinks! My youngest started it in August with just a cough for a week, then he had a runny nose, and then it went through everyone in our house except me. I was downing the airborne and using zicam religiously! Did great UNTIL we were all couped up together in a car driving to Disneyland. I managed to not get the thing until the day we were driving home but now I can't seem to shake the cough and every other day or 2 I end up with a runny nose. My kids are all starting with it again with the sore throat and the coughing. Dh and I are mostly just coughing! I do think the airborne/zicam helped me stave it off and made the symptoms not as horrible as what my family got. I never had to blow my nose a zillion times a day I just went through a ton of cough drops.

Mine isn't that kind of bug. Without giving TMI, let's just say that I had about 1 second to get to the bathroom this morning. Felt bad for a little while and then did manage to volunteer in my son's kindergarten class this morning. But now I'm starting to feel achy--hopefully I can catch a nap and be back to normal (whatever that is in my case... ).

Virgo, I googled the nasal thing you mentioned and I did find several hits on it! Zicam makes some oral remedies, so I'll switch to those instead. They have chews, fast melts, and a spray.
