I can't believe this. I was sick back in August with a sinus infection and I got over that. A couple day ago I started feeling drained and now today my entire body aches termendously and I have low fever. I haven't been able to do anything to get ready for the trip and now I'm so worried about going. I usually take forever to get over things. I don't know what to do. I'd cancel and plan it next year but I've talked to my dd about this and she's excited to go and now I'm afraid it will be my husband and her going and me lying around the hotel. Why does this happen!!!!

Sorry to hear that you're not fealing well! Have you been to the doctor yet? I guess that is the only suggestion I can make! if it makes you feal any better, I've been to DW 6 times and 5 out of the 6 times I was SICK! last time I had Bronchitas (sp) and it was really hard to keep up with my family but somehow I survived! HANG IN THERE AND GOOD LUCK TO YOU! :thumbsup2 Helen

I certainly hope you get better soon. Being sick over the weekend puts you in an especially bad spot because doctors aren't in. Perhaps you could go to a hospital ER? You'd wait forever, but at least you'd be seen, maybe be given something like an antibiotic. Or have you tried an urgent care clinic? Sometimes referred to as a doc-in-a-box. They're usually open on weekends. I've had good luck using them for minor, after hours emergencies. You didn't say if you're flying or driving. Flying could really worsen a sinus infection. Perhaps you could just get there and hole up in the hotel while the rest of the family goes out? That wouldn't be much fun for you, but at least the rest of the family would get some enjoyment.

There are many minor urgent care clinics in the WDW area, I'll try to find some names and post back. Some are mentioned here on this board, you might want to search. Getting sick on a trip can be a real hassle! I know, I've been there, done that. I broke a rib on a trip to Las Vegas. I just woke up the first morning, turned over, and felt a stabbing sensation in my side. We went to a clinic, found I had a broken rib! All I could do was take it easy, take pain pills and muscle relaxants, stayed in the hotel then came home. On a recent trip to Hawaii I passed out in a restaurant, was taken to the ER, found I was suffering from dehydration! I spent the last 3 days of my trip in the hotel.

Well, best of luck to you, hopefully you can pull yourself together and get some enjoyment out of your trip! :grouphug:

Thanks, I was able to get an antibiotic from my doctor but I'm not sure how well it will work this time since I think this might be viral. I'm hoping for the best and we are going to go.

Oh dear....so sorry that you are not feeling well and especially with your trip so close!!!

If it were me, I would head to a walk-in clinic. Make sure it's not bacterial - if so, get the meds and get started on them asap (ask for a z-pack if you aren't too sensitive to meds, something that will kick in fast). I really find that antibiotics start working pretty quickly if needed.

If it's viral, it just has to run its course. Treat yourself symptomatically - tylenol regularly every 4-6 hours, gargle salt water for sore throat, cough medicine if needed, etc. You know the drill I'm sure. Also, and I know some will say they don't work, but I find that the Zicam and ColdEase remedies can really work early in a cold/virus. DH and I have done that this past week (DD an DS were sick) and it has worked for us. Lots of fluid and rest of course.

As for cancelling....such a tough call! If you are deathly ill, it just may not be worth it to go. If you are a little under the weather, but not too bad, I'd just plan to go and lay low for the first day or 2. Hopefully it won't be too long and drawn out???

I hope you are feeling better today!!!!!! Best of luck with whatever you decide to do. :grouphug:

Just saw that you posted while I was writing.

I hope the antibiotic works for you - if it's bacterial I think you'll see a real difference soon. Stay hydrated and go slow.

Hope your trip turns out OK!!!

(maybe all you really need is a little pixie dust?!)

Editing to add:

We are heading to the WL on the 25th too! Hoping NOT to see a sick woman walking around the lobby. ;)

Sometimes just being in the Florida sunshine can make a difference in how you feel! :sunny: Take it easy the first few days, move at your own pace and enjoy what you can. WDW isn't going any place soon!

Beware of the flu. We have already started having confirmed cases of it here in southeast Alabama. We haven't even gotten the flu shots in yet. Maybe you will get well with the antibiotic.

OHHHH so sorry to hear about that...I have been going through that same mess since last Wednesday...I wasn't going to Disney, but Thursday morning I had to get up and make a 3 tier wedding cake...TALK ABOUT STRESSFUL!!!! I ended up going to the dr. and I had a sinus infection, and then I got pink eye in BOTH eyes!!! YUCK...One eye is still a little pink but the other one is now clear. I got an anti-biotic, decongestant and eye drops, to take for 10 days!! DD6 had Bronchitis earlier last week and she was in pretty bad shape for a couple of days as well...I am hoping we are all well now and it is behind us for a while!!!

I actually think I have the samething you have. I just came down with it yesterday. I can tell you what the Telehealth nurse told me. She said to make a saline solution, and gently sniff up each nostril for any runny nose, and to treat sympoms with over the counter meds containing sudafedrine. I asked about Advil cold and sinus, but she didn't reccommend it for me because I'm nursing a 10 wk. old. However I've heard it works really well for perking you up when your feeling drained of all energy, and sore. Hope your trip goes well.

We're in the same boat as you... my 3 kids are sick, I'm getting it and my parents are sick and it's time for disney in 5 days. :guilty: :sad2: :furious:

Hope your feeling better. the flu has hit us, me my 2DD and DS. Just waiting for dh to get it. We leave in 8 days so I hope everyone is better and rested.
