Hello everyone. I'm having a bit of trouble with my DVC planning. We're trying to plan a huge family vacation of eight to go to Disney **/**-**/**. Yes, I know this is the busiest and most unbearable time of the year here. Unfortunately it'll be the only time we could get down there to plan our DisWedding.

So that being said, we're trying to figure out the best way to spend our points for trying to put up eight people for those dates. Our home resort is BLT but that of course is already booked (we're on a waiting list for a studio, standard view).

We get 160 pts a year. We were thinking of using this years and then borrowing next year to get 320 pts total. We were hoping to get into AKV in three studio values. However, apparently they're all full. So now we're desperately trying to figure out what to do.

Our next choice is OKW. However, to get three studios would be 321 points. We're one point short! :sad2: We're not sure what to do now.

We're not against buying additional points but, as always, we wanted to try to keep spending to a minimum. ** Plus, we didn't want to buy more points from someone to just take a chance at getting the resort when we call May 27th to book.

Any help would be gladly appreciated!!

Thanks guys!!!

Please note that the above post was edited, to remove specific dates and other info so as not to be construed as a "Reservation Wanted" or "Transfer Wanted" post, which must be made on the Rent/Trade Board.

To answer you questions, your options are buying a small add-on contract (25 point minimum) or requesting a transfer from another member. Someone may have a handful of points that are past their banking deadline, and they may be willing to transfer. You never know unless you try.

You could also rent one night on cash for one of the reservations from Member Services or Disney Cash Reservations, assuming they have one available.

Thanks Chuck. Like I said in my post, we're trying to minimize costs, so a 25 point add on package is kind of out of the question. :sad2:

I know that you're only allowed to transfer once so I'm not sure how people would be willing to transfer one point. :confused3

The cash reservation is probably the most likely scenario. When I go to book the ressie through DVC, is that when I'd pay the cash night for it? How would I figure out how much a cash night would be?

Thanks.

Isn't that annoying? We came up two points short for this trip and I was lucky enough to have a friend transfer them to me. :lovestruc Good luck! I would still try posting on the trade board, you never know who may be willing to help. :goodvibes

You can book a cash night now, or wait until you make your point reservations, if there is availability. You would be quoted a price, and if you have Annual Passes, you may want to call regular Disney reservations to see if there is an AP Discount available (but you would need to be staying in the cash room for the AP discount.)

If you book the cash night through member services, I think you pay upon check-in. For the AP discount, you pay at time of booking.

I recently transfered 1 point to someone in a similar situation. The problem is, I still have 2 points that will be lost next February 28, and I can't transfer again. If I were you, I'd go on the rent trade board and post that you need one point. Specify the resort, and then move from there. I guess it might be nice to first know if there is availability at OKW before you start, but that can change in a second, so I'd probably take my chances. Would a 2 bedroom work? OKW 2 bedrooms are large, and 8 people should fit just fine.

If you get the points transfer and then end up not needing it, you can bank it for next year and not lose it.

I can transfer 1 point to you just give me the info. I need to do it soon though I have 12 points left in my use year and I must bank by tomorrow. My use year is August.
