I'm shaking, I'm so excited! Poly GV Concierge for me & the kids!

I just got off the phone with a great CM, Roma, who helped me book Poly GV Concierge for 12/21-12/27 at $262/nite (AP rate, tax incl.)--during HOLIDAY season!! That's VALUE season prices folks! She couldn't believe it!

Dh has to work on 12/26, so we were planning on driving straight thru, leaving the evening of the 26th and arriving on the eve of the 27th. We had a 3 week trip booked, staying at the Wyndham Palms 2bdr villa, Vistana Resort 2bdr villa, Dolphin (2 rooms), and Orange Lake 2 bdr villa--all at rock-bottom prices thru Hotwire, Sky Auction, and Hotel Kingdom.

Since the kids' last day of school is 12/18, I thought I'd call and check on AP rates for the week before our planned trip, since without dh, we can all fit in one deluxe room (kids are 15, 6, 6, 3, and 12 mos.) Dd 15 has her driver's permit and will have finished Driver's Ed. by then, so hopefully she can help me drive. Dh can fly down alone and join us on the 27th!

Normally, the thought of being without dh with 5 kids at WDW would scare the @*%# out of me, but how bad could it be in a Concierge room at the Poly???

Now I just have to figure out how to come up with the additional $1500 or so. Lookout eBay!! Gotta sell more, more, more!

I know you all will agree that this is a good idea, but dh will think I've lost my marbles (again).

I'm just sooooo excited!!!

We stayed Poly concierge GV for 14nts last year and it was the best time that we have had in our lives

Hi, momtotwinglesx4, I just did the same thing a few minutes ago. Check in 12/20 and out 12/26. Is that rate unbelievable or what? Looks like my kids (9, 7 and 5) might be hanging out with your little ones in the lounge. Now, I still have to get my husband's blessing on this whole Disney-at-Christmas adventure. Are you concerned at all with the holiday crowds at the parks?? We've never done holiday there. I posted on the Theme Park board requesting comments on holiday touring, but got absolutely NO response. Or maybe they just don't want to scare me...

Cool! I'm sure my kids will be thrilled to have some new friends to play with! I've never been to the world over Christmas, but I've read plenty of horror stories about the crowds. We were there 10 yrs ago on Thanksgiving when we just had ONE child, and it was crowded beyond belief in MK, so if that's any indication of what the parks are like at Christmas time, then YES, I'm quite concerned! Myself & dd15, without dh, handling 4 little ones in shoulder-to-shoulder crowds. Uh, I think not! Luckily, after that week, dh will be joining us for 3 more much-less-crowded weeks, so we'll have plenty of time for the parks then. Christmas week, I plan on spending most of our time at the resort, taking full advantage of that concierge lounge! We will also do alot of resort hopping to admire all the beautiful holiday decorations. We'll have to see what it's like, but I anticipate just doing early mornings at the parks, maybe some short evenings, and spending most of our time enjoying the resort that week.

How are you handling Christmas morning/Santa etc. with your kids? I have to figure that one out still, esp. since dh won't be with us that day. We might write Santa and see if he can send a few elves to our house earlier in Dec., before we leave, since we won't be home on Christmas. Do you think that would work?

I was wondering the same thing. My kids wouldn't want to be away from DH over Christmas even if it meant more time at Disney.

Yes, everyone is aware of that and while we'd prefer it if dh was there too, it wouldn't really be like our usual Christmas anyway. We will celebrate the holiday as a family either before we leave, or on the 27th when dh joins us

Dh won't be alone on the 25th; both his family and mine live nearby and he'll be with family. He's ok with it, I'm ok with it, and the kids are ok with it, so it's not a problem for us

Hey, Sue. Well, my husband, after hearing my whole scheme, decided that he would prefer Y/C concierge instead. That would have been so perfect to have other kids to hang out with.

As far as Christmas morning, I haven't even thought through that. I'm just breathing a sigh of relief that my husband even agreed to this. We decided that we were going to put money into the house to get it in market condition to sell next year, and $3500 at Disney would sure go a long way in paint, tile and new carpet.

I would suggest enlisting the help of concierge in laying out gifts for the children while you are out having breakfast. And don't worry about the kids being away from Dad on Christmas. You might even postpone your Christmas until he gets there.

The crowds - well, something that seems hopeful is that when I called this morning and inquired about several resorts, there seemed to be plenty of availability. Also, the last MK party is the 19th and perhaps the crowds will thin out a bit during Christmas week, although not to the level that we're used to.
