Friday is Fairy tale day at school...DS wants to be a pirate...needless to say can't find one this time of year....SO off to the sewing store I go....I think the ladies all think I am nuts. I had to let people go in front of me to have fabric cut so I could figure out how much material I would need!
SO I bought this really kewl burlap fabric with lots of colors, so I took DD girl scout vest and copied it...Put some big gold buttons on it and some tassels.
Then I bought some left over green christms material, with small gold angels on it can't really tell they are angels but looked kind of royal Got a 1/4 yard of that for his head wrap.
Got some silver satin type material (christmas again) for a shash...
Pair of jeans
I have a pair of "gogo boots that were mine from like 6th grade...they are black with a gold buckel! Perfect
Then I found in DD dress up box a shirt that has a ruffle on the sleeves and front...not sure if he will wear it! Have an eye patch and a gold earring...
so do I need some beads or anything else?

It sounds like you have everything you need. We wear beads down here when we dress up like pirates because we have a parade that is sort of like Mardi Gras, but pirate themed. I would not think they are required.

When we were on the latest Disney cruise, Pirate Night had a lot of folks dressed as pirate with stuffed parrots on their shoulders. Not sure there's enough Xmas fabric left out there to stuff a pirate but perhaps DD has an old Beanie Baby bird or something at the $$ store you could play with. I think you have all the rest of your bases covered as far as attire goes!

I have to say I love how it turned out! Unfortunately can't find the shirt...will have to search a little harder in DD room! But did find some beads from Unniversal the green ones and silver. Also a parrot! I must say it looks really cute! I have also a few more sashes to add to his waist! Need to find the face paint so I can put some facial hair and maybe some under eye stuff!

Ok Spinning I just figured something out. I am almost embarrassed to say but here goes...

Every time I read your tag about the dog costume, I thought to myself, how cute, the tag fairy wants Spinning to make a costume for her pet bird. It wasn't until just this second that I realized the tag fairy wants little holes for her wings! I feel like such a doof!

Um, anyway, sounds like your DS is going to be the cutest pirate ever. Have you bought embellishment and paper for the page you are going to do on him yet?
