As you guys know from my ticker my Dl trip is from March 12-21.

I am wondering are the Anaheim schools spring breaks around that time? :scared:

No... Most of the Anaheim City School District and the Orange Unified School District schools are on break durring the first 2 weeks in April. The same time the cheaper AP's are blocked out!

Well it will be Spring Break season somewhere so It won't be completely empty. Also the National Cheer and Dance competition at the Ananheim convention center is happening 3/20-3/22. So the last few days of your trip will have a lot of really chipper girls running around the park! :scared:

Okay so at least it wont be jam packed. But that sucks about the dance competition on my last days lol

Why?

They aren't going to disrupt your visit. :cheer2:

That is obviously your opinion. But in my opinion and my reality, even back in high school being near the cheerleaders and various dance squad girls disrupted my days. At my 20th reunion those girls-turned-women were still just as annoying and disrupted my good time at the reunion by acting the way they used to act at football games (luckily my little group wasn't the only ones making fun of their behavior this time).

So if I were in the parks and there was a large contingent, or worse, many smaller contingents of girls trained in cheer and dance squad stuff, it WOULD impact my visit.

Your feeling about them isn't the truth for everyone, and obviously mine isn't either, but we definitely have opposite reactions to the same types of people!

Bumbershoot,

My point was that they aren't going to affect your fun or your visit any more than any other Disneyland park visitors.

For the record, I was not a cheerleader and understand what you said above, but my point is still that they aren't really an overwhelming presence when you consider the overwhelming number of people in the park.

If you happen to be at DL when a cheer competition is, they really don't affect your visit. I've been there many times when they are.

Try not to worry about it (crowds) too much, otherwise, your visit might become something of a headache, just remember to arrive at Dl. before or at the time it opens, and get fast passes, and enjoy your time there. :)

OK, I don't want to start a big "to-do", but I have to agree with bumbershoot...it would (and has) have a negative impact on my trip. Don't get me wrong, it didn't ruin it, but standing in line next to 15 teenage and preteen high pitched dramatic girls drives me CRAZY. They push passed people in line to get to their friends and they converse in an octave that is not well recieved by the human ear (not to mention all at once), just thinking about it makes me cringe. Then once you get on the ride they SCREAM like babies because they think it's funny. The rides that this happened to us were POTC, HM, and peter pan. Before you start bashing me...I have a teenage daughter who is a cheerleader. Under normal circumstances she is a wonderful, well behaived girl...until you get her together with her cheer friends :scared: . Like I said before, it didn't ruin our trip, but it certainly made standing in line and riding those rides VERY annoying!

I going to have to agree with Bumbershoot and dismom73 on this. I've been at DL when the cheer convention is going on and their presence does not go unnoticed for all the reasons dismom73 described.

It's not going to ruin your trip but just be prepared in case you're likely to be irritated with loud teenage girls. Who scream lots...and LOTS. You can always ask the CM who is assigning spots on whatever ride you're getting ready to board to not put you with any particular group. After I realized that they'll usually accommodate you no problem it made for a more pleasant experience.

cheerleading competitions in general are crowds period....and anaheim schools being out arent the ones you need to worry about because they can come to disneyland any time...but March and most of April in general are spring break times and alot of families come to DL...I would expect to have large crowds and just prepare for it the best way you can...its better to expect the worse and it not happen than the other way around:goodvibes

Even if it's not spring break in Anaheim, it's prime spring break time everywhere. From what I've seen both March and April can have large crowds because of it. Just something to expect, because I've gone when I thought when it would be very low crowds, and get quite the shock!

I also would not want to go during the cheerleader conferences. At our hotel in June we had a teenage conference of band players. They were loud enough at our hotel to all hours. I can't imagine cheerleaders. I'm good. LOL

10-4 to that. We were there during a band competition of some sort and it was not a lot of fun........the kids were obnoxious and annoying. Now I am sure I was at that age too but I try and plan my trips around cheerleaders and band competitions if at all possible.

Keep an eye on the operating hours. They are usually a good indicator. Best advice: get there early and use Fastpass strategies.

I totally agree! My daughter's b-day is March 15th. We've gone the last three years for her birthday and it always surprises me how busy March can be! Even in years when Easter falls in April like it does this year. I know now to expect large crowds in March. And especially if it is spring break for my kids (which it will be March 16th-27th), I know it will be spring break for others, so we prepare for large crowds. We will go anyway and still have a wonderful time, but we will be prepared. And I also agree about the cheer conventions! ugh!:confused3

If someone screams in your facial, then just scream back, if you feel like it. No hitting though ;) he he!
