I'm rethinking Teppanyaki...now what?

Hello.... I have an ADR for Teppanyaki in Nov. I'm thinking about changing it to something else. There are several Japanese steak houses in our area and from what I've read Teppanyaki isn't any better than your average Beni hana type place. I'll try for Le Cellier but I'm not getting my hopes up :)
I'm thinking about Chefs in France or Alfredos in Italy. Both menus look good but I was looking for thoughts and opinions

TIA

Terri

My opinion - not been for many years, but the food there was fantastic, and i am fussy. Dined at Chefs de France - i liked it but nothing memorable. My dd was only 3 last time she ate Teppanyaki - she is now three, remembers it well and often talks about it. Mind you - I am in the uk and don't have a Japanese restaurant near where i live, so i have nothing to compare it with.

i think a lot of it jusut depends on what you like. i'd prefer to eat in norway (cs or ts), france (bistro or chefs), morroco (ts or cs), san angel inn or outside epcot at kona, jiko, boma or more:) that's just me though. alot is just individual taste.

the last time we ate there the only thing that saved the meal was the dipping sauces. the first time we ate there we thought it was great, but every meal since has just gotten more bland.

We just ate their tonight and by far it is the best meal we have had at DISNEY. So far as have ate at Yatchsman Steakhouse and Narcosees . We have been to many chain japaenese steakhouse restaurants and yes it is about the same, both it is really still good and a real treat.

I would definitely say go for Chefs. You're right - Teppanyaki isn't better than any Japanese steakhouse you can get at home, and is sometimes worse.

::MickeyMo I'm a fairly picky eater and I love Teppanyaki! DBF and I always have it on our must list. We went this past May and had the same chef as the year before. The best part is, he remembered us! What are the odds. But besides that, the food is excellent and you get more than enough for your money. They definitely don't skimp on the food there. ::MinnieMo

We ate in Japan a few years ago and loved it. It was on our must do list for our recent trip. We even passed up a night of dining with our parents to eat there. (they wouldn't go there). We weren't staying together and only met for dinner, so it's not like we were with them all day.

I take coumadin and must watch what I eat, especially vitamin K. I rarely eat salads or green leafy vegetables because of the way my system reacts to it. I really had no problems in any other restaurants finding menu items I could eat.

When they told me the only app I could have was a salad that left me with nothing.

I expected from the boards that they were taking lobster off the menu and I was OK with that.

But I wasn't expecting the limited apps and deserts too!

Many of the entrees came with broccoli as the veg so that just didn't leave much for me to pick from.

What I ate that night was meat, bean sprouts and rice and a dish of orange sherbert.

It didn't even come close to the meal we had there before. (which was a nice app, and a meat/fish/chicken combo with Mixed vegs, and a nice piece of cake)

My husband ate his salad, had a meat & scallop combo, and ate every bite of mushrooms, green vegs(?), onions, and bean sprouts on his plate. He had ice cream for desert. He said his food was very good.

Our chef was EXCELLENT. He was very funny and great to the kids at our table. Our waitress was not pleasant.

We had 6 excellent meals and 1 not so great. It was so nice not to have to worry about what everything was costing. Overall it was one of our best Disney vacations.

This is just our opinion, but we loved the bread and the app at the Maya Grill.
if that was all we had it would have been enough, it was so good. we ate there twice. We had fish, ribs, steak. everything we tried was wonderful. And the deserts were wonderful.

We also ate at Kona (parents were at Poly). Also excellent bread and app. Entree & deserts were wonderful.

And of course Canada is wonderful!

We drive everywhere, and we find it much easier to eat at resort restaurants than park restaurants. And there are so many good ones.

The posts on these boards, and the menus, helped us pick our restaurants ahead of time and they were so right on! thanks to all the posts that helped us have such a great time.

I loved Chefs de france. If you're on the dining plan, try this place because it can be expensive. If not, its still wonderful food but bear in mind that you could end up spending 100 for 2 with appetizers and desserts. I thought it was worth it, but my outlook is skewed because I was not paying for it full price
