I'm not sure if this is the right board, but here goes:

I've rented from DVC members for our upcoming trip and I think it's time for me to confirm our ressies and requests on my own now. How do I contact member services, I mean, is there a phone number I can call? The old rent/trade sticky board had this info, but I can't find that thread anymore.

Thanks for any help. ;)

You cannot contact Member Services. DVC will only deal directly with the owner of the points. Before giving out any information they will ask for a variety of personal information to confirm the identity of the caller--member numbers, last 4 digits of SSN, name, address, etc.

About the only thing you can do is try calling the resort a couple of days before check-in. A few days before arrival all of the reservation data is uploaded to their computers. Once that occurs they should be able to see your name in the computer and confirm the reservation.

I hope your rental is going ok......Did you get a Disney confirmation from the owner? As the last post explain, you can not call MS yourself but have to rely on the renter to make all the arrangments. A couple days prior to arrival you name should be in the system....Email the owner and touch base with them if you have a slight fear of something going on.
Good Luck..

Thanks, guys. That's exactly what I needed to know about calling. One of the renters said I could call, but I didn't think I was allowed to. So far, everything is as it should be, I've got the confirmations with our names on them and that's great.

Have a happy holiday time this year!!

Hope all goes well. Have a great vacation.

there use to be something on here about people renting could call 7 days before their vacation starts and then and only then will member services talk to you if you are renting. I was wondering the same thing , i am renting points and my vacation starts this sunday. so i guess it has changed again?

Up until about 15 months ago, renters could call DVC directly and confirm the reservation. They quit doing that sometime in the Fall of 2006.

Since that change, there was never a period when renters could contact DVC. You can only try calling the resort directly.

I think I have seen some people claim that the resort can be contacted as far out as 7 days, so that may be what you are thinking of. It seems a little early to me, but I've never tried it myself. If you're checking in Sunday, I'd wait a couple more days and then try the resort.

And there has been at least one report of the front desk refusing to confirm a rental reservation as well.

i called the resort and they gave me disney reservations number....i told them i wanted to confirm my reservation...an they just told me i had to call that number, so i did, they couldn't find it and told me i would have to call dvc to confirm... and i told them ii wasn't a member but they didn't think that mattered to confirm my upcoming reservation. i guess we will see when i call. i specifically remember someone saying you can only call no earlier than 7 days to confirm, where as before you could call anytime, but not anymore, only the 7 days before...oh well we will see
thanks

That's a good point. I know that when you're local at the resorts, they use a call center to handle the "front desk" calls. I really have no idea where calls go when you dial the resort phone number. Front desk CMs at Disney resorts don't have constantly ringing phones to answer, so at best the calls are going to some back office.

On my last rental transaction before buying DVC, I called to try and confirm a few days out. The first time whomever I spoke to clearly transferred me to some general Disney reservations line, and they couldn't find anything. I called back and got someone different who did help me directly. Still I wouldn't be a bit surprised to find that things have changed over the last 5+ years.

The resort didn't understand that you were calling to confirm a DVC reservation. They gave you the number to CRO/WDWTC - that is the number for guests who make cash reservations directly with Disney.

I also think that the reservations are not downloaded to the resorts 7 days ahead. I think it is more like 3 or 4.

Member Services will not give you any information if you are not the member who made the reservation. You will have to call the member if you want to confirm the reservation or add/change/cancel anything.
