I figured what the heck, and did it today.

The color was for medium brown to give it reddish highlights (The color was Brazilian Tan). I thought my hair was medium brown versus light brown... (it has brown, black and eek some gray in it!).

Well all said and done, its about a shade or two darker than original but you can see the red highlights.

I didnt want to go blond (can't stand the eyebrows and hair not matching.. thats just a weird thing of me though)

I probably could have gone down a shade or two.. but hey it grows

I knew Pop Daddy is going to pipe up on this thread!

I do like it, just getting used to it is tough.

Serena-- I do like it. Its darker than I thought, so thats tough getting used to.

I may have either used too much stuff, (my hair is shorter now), or left it on a minute or two too long.. all in all I cant complain.

Cindy, it will fade somewhat. The red dyes normally do. Give it a couple weeks to see if you'll like it.

Great for you!!!:teeth: I kept my hair red for about 10 years.....probably every shade of red there is, in fact. Like you, I have medium brown hair and wanted a change without going blonde. I actually used color in the beginning because my hairdresser told me it would add a bit of body to my fine, limp hair. I finally had to stop coloring mine.....reds just don't hold well and I was having to do it far too frequently to be healthy. Greatest of luck in finding just the right shade! :sunny:

Well, I figured it was worth a try. Next time I will go a shade lighter.

Its so hard to determine what "medium" brown is. So its darker, but not too dark. I probably could have gone one shade lighter, but hey, live and learn

Yeah, my hair is medium brown. It's hard to tell. I usually go with a level #2 so that it won't give me roots that are too bad no matter what color is it.

I just colored and highlighted my sister's hair yesterday. I must say I did a good job. Actually I have a problem because I loved the color I put on her hair. And yes, it's the same color as mine.

Medium brown is sooo tricky!

I did it all myself, and I was worrying if I did it right!

I am sure that it will be fine. I am probably lighter medium brown if that makes any sense.

Perfect sense. :)

I did red once. It came out a beautiful dark pink and in the sun, it looked like it had gold sparkles in it. It was beautiful. Except it was my hair. I couldn't wait to color it back to plain old brown.

I did the same thing about this time last year. I was really red!!! It was ok once I got use to walking past a mirror and seeing this red head look back at me, but it really did fade fast and I was back to the old brown me!! I try to go with a medium dark blond now and it gives the the lighter medium brown I am looking for. Good luck!!!

I want to say welcome to the club, but I must face reality because my natural red hair has become darker and darker brown every year! Darn my father's black hair anyway! What color was that bottle stuff?

It was called Braziialian Tan (Number 61 with Herbal Essences). I probably should have gone with 55 (Pumpkin) but its so hard to tell in the store.

My daughters hair is this shade, but hers has a blond highlight. I it hard to walk past the mirror and say hey, thats me.

It is dark than usual, but not morbidly dark. See, my base hair is brown, but I have darker coarser black hairs interspersed in it (gotta love genetics of black hair/brown hair parents). Of course, there is some gray in there as well.

The older I get, the redder my hair gets. My SO hates redhair. I've threatened to make it even redder.;)

welcome to the club!!!

redheads are sexy
pop daddy...i knew i liked you!

My SO hates redhair
it's a good thing for me that my hubby is very much attracted to my red hair! just about every woman he was involved with from the time we broke up in high school until we reunited a few years ago had red hair! lol

mine's natural red...i do color it, but i keep it as close to my natural shade as possible...i just want to cover the grey!

i love being a redhead now...i hated it growing up though. i wanted brown or blonde hair like all the other girls...but once my grandma passed away, i decided to keep my red hair in her honor. she was the only other red head in the family at the time. and now i'm so glad i never changed my hair color...it part of what makes me ME!

I was Lucy Ricardo red for a few years of my life. Its fun to experment with color, I bet red looks nice on you Cindy! :)

Brandie, your hair looks totally natural and perfect on you. :)
