My hairdresser and I decided to make a little change...we were originally trying for a dark brown with reddish/violet highlights. But because my base was already a dyed many times medium ash brown, it was a bit of a challenge. I ended up more of a dark brown with medium auburn highlights. It's AWESOME--but quite a shock to look in the mirror! :teeth:

Don't you love the power of dye :thumbsup2 . I went red last week after having black hair after having medium ash blond..... I have no idea what my natural color is any more :rotfl: .

I tried that a couple years ago. It was fun for a few days but I quickly went back to my dark brown w/ blonde and auburn streaks...fake now, natural when I was younger.

I want to go red but I'm afraid. I've heard that red is very hard to get rid of once you do it. I am blonde, what if I don't like it? :confused3 I have green eyes, so I'm thinking going red would look nice :teeth: Do you have a pic? I'd like to see the color, it sounds pretty

I've been red before--where my whole head was the color of the highlights. It's actually a good color for me.

I like this better than being totally red, I like the look of the deep brown (which is my natural color if I recall--I haven't been "natural" since I was in high school!) with the red hi-lights. I can still wear pink and some colors of red!

I love having red hair. My eyes are green and it goes so well with that eye color. Right now I'm in desperate need of a dye job, but someone today complemented me on my hair being frosted. I had to explain that the light coloring was actually gray roots and I needed to have my hair done again.

I've been every colour, but I love being a redhead the most! My stylist and I started off 15 years ago with red highlights, but after doing them twice, we decided to just dye my hair. I've been auburn, strawberry blonde, dark auburn, burgundy with gold stripes in the top only...now it's a deep purple-red. She changes the shade and formula each time I go, because we both love to play, but it's always some shade of red! :thumbsup2

love being a red head...I'm blondish now but thinking about going back red!

need a pic.

I have been coloring my hair since 1988. My color choices are limited because I am so gray that my hair will handle so much according to my stylist. The last time I was in for my coloring there was a gal that had a deep burgandy brown combo that was gorgeous. I go back in this Friday and I am considering the change.

I was blonde as a child, but started highlighting it decades ago. This summer I had my hair cut very, very short and went natural - which turns out to be a very dark brown (who knew? - especially at my age). I also had Lasix because I'd gotten so lazy about wearing my contacts the past few years.

No one recognizes me! I have short, dark hair and don't wear glasses. I've also lost a little weight because of illness. Even my own sister passed me up at the airport because she was looking for a blonde.

Welcome to the Sisterhood! (<---the only red-headed smilie I could find.)

I've gone from dark brown (hair stylist insisted he couldn't go any lighter with semi-permanent color) to a gorgeous golden-brown/auburn (new hair stylist!). I get lots of compliments on the color and it looks especially good with a Loreal Sublime tan. ;) I can wear any color except dark purple/plum, which makes my hair and skin (naturally pale OR tan) look sickly.

It's very interesting, because I used to look half-dead in black, and I can suddenly wear black! I'm playing with my wardrobe colors and it's a blast.

:rotfl: I love it.

Just yesterday, I was in the restroom at Target, and those horrible flourescent lights really highlighted my gray roots - I had to run right to the hair color aisle! ;)

I love red hair, I just can't carry it off.

I did go red once, it ended up being a pinky red. I was told it was pretty, but pink was not what I was going for. :teeth:

Come now - Cyndi Lauper did pink and made millions - that could have been you. :teeth:

I loved being red! I've since gone back to my regular brown, but I think I'm going back to red on Thursday because I miss it! I work in a salon so it's fun to change my mind often!

Welcome to the wonderful world of redheads. Although SOME of us are NATURAL you will find that you can turn many many heads!!

Redheads Rule!

I absolutely LOVE red hair! DH and I both had redhead SO's before we met each other. I hated breaking up with that other guy, but only because I'd miss having redheaded babies. ;)

I use Natural Instincts Cinnaberry, and I love the color, but it does make my gray roots look pinky red. Oh well. :confused3

I love being a redhead. When I was born I was a real carrot top, but over the years its more of an auburn color now. When I was a kid the boys used to sing to me "redhead, redhead, fire in the woodshed" Never knew what that meant back then! I am pretty lucky in our family we don't go grey early so I don't have to dye it yet. The best part was being the Redhead from Pirates of the Caribbean this year at WDW and just curling my own hair.

i'm a redhead, been one all my life. when i go to my beautician it never fails-someone gets on her case that my shade of hair color is exactly what they want, and why can't she 'do that' to their hair. my beautician is usualy pretty good natured about it and explains that it did'nt come from a bottle and no she can't replicate the shade. one day when both myself and my mother were in for an appointment (and my hairdresser was in a particularly smart-*** mood) a customer goes on and on about wanting 'that shade' and demanding to know 'what bottle it came from'-my hairdresser without missing a beat sez 'gee i don't know let me check-hey 'y' (my mom)-what were you drinking the night your daughter was conceived-my customer want's some of the same' :teeth: :teeth:

i guess i can deal with my red hair better now than when i was younger-i hated it, and i still don't like the freckles that go along with it BUT on the other hand while all my same age (and younger) friends battle with gray hair-i've yet to find one.
