OK, so I am being the great wife and mother and making dinner. I decide to cut up a fresh pineapple. I wasn't cutting it up and down, but sideways(STUPID!). So, I sliced my finger!!! It was a big knife, and was bleeding pretty good. My DH just walked in the door right after I did it, and he looked at it. He says "That definitely needs stitches". It was really nasty!!! So, off we go to the emergency room. Had to get a tetanus shot since I probably haven't had one since college. They cleaned up my cut(at least 1/4 inch deep), but they used Dermabond instead of stitches. I have large gauze on it right now and can't get it wet for 24 hours. Showering tomorrow should be interesting!!! My finger is throbbing! I may take pain medicine tonight just to be on the safe side. Things could have been worse, but I hate when I do stuff like this! Can't wait to see the hospital bill for just that little thing!

OUCH!!!!! I'm sorry that happened and yes, it definitely could have been worse. I hope it feels better by morning. Keep it elevated during the night, might help with the throbbing.

Oh and you need to buy one of these from Bed, Bath & Beyond - Pineapple corer/slicer. Works great:

Take care and take your pain meds.

NOW you tell her? A little late I think! Feel better soon, I once sliced my finger on a Meat Slicer at work, wasn't fun at all, it was around 11pm and I didn't get taken till around 12:45am.:headache: Had 6 stitches.

Better late than never - Right???

I'm sorry, that is so easy to do, to cut yourself with a sharp knife. Take those pain med.'s and feel better soon.

I know exactly how you feel. Last week I had a glass break in my hand. Dh said it didn't need to be looked at because it stopped bleeding (after about 10 minutes). Well the next day it was still throbbing, so I went to the ER. They said IF you had come in yesterday I would have given you a couple of stitches. So a tetnus shot and a splint later I went home. It's looking much better, but it is definitly going to leave a nice big scar.

I once sliced off my finger tip cutting a baked potato. I was surprised how many stitches can fit onto a finger tip.

Ouch! I cut my thumb last night with scissors when I was cutting up my old credit cards. Don't ask me how. I should never be trusted to handle sharp objects!

You know, that is so funny!!! While my DH and I were waiting in the ER last night for them to take care of my finger, I told him I need to now get one of those pineapple corer/slicer! I work at Sur La Table part time, and they have one there! I think I may invest in one now for sure!! I made it through the night. I had some tylenol with codeine and it stopped the throbbing during the night and I slept good!!!! It is feeling better this morning. Actually, my arm hurts more than my finger because I got that tetanus shot too.

Glad you're feeling better this morning.

Take care and NO MORE KNIVES!!!:)
