I'm Not As Tink As You Kronk I Am - Final Thoughts on Mustard's January Trip to WDW

Sorry it's taking me so long to catch up. I'm reading again and really enjoying all your pictures!

:lmao: she slept in the tub??! The whole time?? :rotfl2:
I love that!

And what a first day! So glad your kids didn't realize your frustrations. And you still managed to get some great video of the parade! Those stills were better than ANY pictures I've ever gotten at Spectro!

I'm enjoying this...back to reading for me!

Hey, I appreciate you digging through all those pictures ;-]

Yup! She slept in the tub and was very comfy :goodvibes

Yes, the first day was full of weirdness and the Spectro evening wasn't my finest hour, but it all worked out and the girls were smiling so it was all good.

She's SO cute! As is your other dog, Caesar, is it? He looks like the dog on the Caesar dog food commercial.

She is a little firecracker! I need to take a new pic of her, she's grown and has a more classic poodle cut now. And yeah, Caesar does look a bit like the dog in the commercials - I should look into royalties :lmao:

Congratulations! I know I'm late on this but I hope that you are enjoying your new position!

The pictures at SW are awesome! I haven't been there since I was a kid, but you are making me want to go back!

I didn't realize they had a dog show. They should call it Animal World instead of Sea World
:rotfl:

Thank you, and for the most part it is good. But today specifically I'm going to have to dicipline one of my employees - that is the downside. But ya gotta take the whole package and roll with it.

SW was a great experience and I had only been to the one in San Diego in 1976, so I was impressed with all the attractions they had. Yeah, there were a bunch of "land" animals there, weren't there? :confused3

Okay, so I have reading off and on (between dealing with my pictures on my new hard drive) and I can't believe I managed to hold in all my comments til now. Since there are SO many pictures in each update, I didn't quote anything, so there's probably a lot of things I said outloud to myself that I will forget. So I'll try to remember what I wanted to say, and if anything pops in my head later on, I'll just come back for random posts :thumbsup2

With that said, I did quote a few small things, so I'll make all my comments on these first

Hehehe, at least I'm not the only one struggling with going through pictures! I do the same thing though with many of my comments just kind of flitting out into the air instead of typing them out. And I live for random posts :D

I could!!! Mustard I think it's GREAT that you and Bean rode ToT & RnR for so long!! :thumbsup2

Yeah, gotta be a thrillseaker sometimes!

Hehe, more pic overload comments - wheee!

I surely hope you meant to say "tick off" and not off, as in "auf" meaning kill. :rotfl:

Nope, I believe he was talking about a hit on poor Biff! ;)

:lmao: I never thought about that, but I agree with Mustard that those fish seemed a little large to swim into any orifices. Nice use of an under-rated word by the way :thumbsup2

I agree with the family look-a-like situation.

Everyone has their little phobias, but water has never been one of mine. Heck, I learned to water ski on the Sabine River in texas with cottonmouths and gators around me ;) Agreed though on the use of orifice - hehe.

Let's see..

I forgot to comment on your snow escapades. Being from Louisiana, I've never "snow tubed" and didn't realize such a thing existed (I mean, I didn't know there were places you could go to do something like that)

I've snow skiied(Colorado) and that is a blast, so I know I'd love snow tubing.

Yeah, doing the tube thing is a lot easier on the knees, and as long as you have a tow lift to take you back up the hill it is a very leisurly experience while still being lots of fun. Just make sure and don't wear a short t-shirt that would allow snow to make it in between the layers. Ice and snow shoots up at you and behind you while you go down and it can get a wee bit chilly.

I think it's cool that you got to see the behind the scenes LMA stuff and have the driver wave to y'all on the backlot tour. I was hoping a LMA show would be going on during our tour last year but no luck.

I've been one of the people on the boat (not in the "room") and my Grandpa was the one "soaked" in the room. But he got to wear a rain suit so I think he came out of it pretty dry. I, on the other hand, am so small that the coat I had was rather large and the hoodie ended up falling off of my head during my "performance" so my hair was SOAKED, and my back was a little wet. Thank God it was mid-summer (July) but it still was a little uncomfortable til I dried off(which didn't take too long)

We really lucked out with that, just a bit of Disney magic ...or mojo as Jordan would say. But that was great that you (and your grandpa) got to take part in the show. And yes, water can be a pain when you're soaked but at least it dries.

I'm sorry your Indiana Jones viewing got cut short. That stinks :headache: I guess it's just another good reason to go back! :thumbsup2

I finally saw the well this past trip. Thanks to the UG I knew to look for it!

Shamu was SO cool! I didn't know you could "eat with him"{/QUOTE]

That was a bummer but you're right - all the more reason to come back! Bean LOVED playing with that well but she always wanted me to pull it for her. I didn't know about the dining with Shamu thing either until I started researching ADRs for WDW. I figured if they had it there they'd probably have something at Sea World too. I'm glad I looked and booked it, it was a wonderful experience.

Discovery Cove...where is that? It looks like y'all had a total BLAST there! I love the excitement on your faces when Jenny is pulling y'all...especially your MiL. I laughed just looking at those.
And :sad2: you didn't want to kiss Jenny? Were you afraid she'd have bad breath? She looked a little sad. I think you need to pay her another visit ;) ::yes::

I think I'd like to go there one day, just not in the colder months. I'm a wimp when it comes to cold water!

I'm sure there's more I want to say but that's all for now...

Discovery Cove is just past Sea World - same side of the road, just a little farther down. The entrance is off the main drag so it is easy to miss. We were a grinning bunch when we took our rides and I think Jenny will live without me smooching her - she was getting plenty attention from everyone else.

I remember one thing.

How'd you get those great pictures during the live Nemo show? Is that the SLR again?

And speaking of Nemo, the picture of Nemo being "chased" that you said you didn't mean to take with the flash...did I see what I think I saw? A room behind it that we're not supposed to see?

Yup, I was actually all the way at the back of the theater for Nemo, but my trusty Rebel & good lens made all the difference. No flash needed and reasonable clarity. :thumbsup2

Yup! You got it and I think that's why they don't want you using the flash as it give away the illusion. You can see all of the mechanics of the thing with robot arms and everything.

that is my next trip after september.

that is the trip Buzz will be on and it is called the ip-dip fest or meet.

ip-dip is when u make a mistake or something so u made an ip-dip. Buzz language I think. should be fun but only 3 nights.

Nice theme ...it will allow for all the weirdness to be promplty filed as ip-dip and give y'all a running gag to reference while you're there ;)

Where's Mustard? Now that I'm caught up I'm ready for the next update. Mustard, I know you slowed it down for me so I could read but I'm ready.

:surfweb:

I'll be waiting :rolleyes1

Sorry I haven't been around - I'll explain in a separate post. I do have the last day's pics uploaded to the server, I just need the time to sit down and put the story together with the pictures.

I've been wondering where he went too. He's probably really busy with work. That's usually what happens when he doesn't show for a while.

Both work and home life have been challenging the past week or so, but I'm getting back on track now.

I am going Friday - Monday and I tell myself it is better than no trip.

Wow, the full-on weekend sprint, aye? Good luck to ye and may the crowds follow a different path from you. :thumbsup2

Hey all, we had a bit of a close call with my MiL last Tuesday morning. She had a pretty good Monday with workable pain levels and such but something happened early Tuesday morning. DW went in to check on her and found her completely covered in a blanket, slumped over and had thrown up a couple of times.

She was completely incoherant and could not hold herself up and was running a fever. We called 911 and had the ambulance and fire truck outside the house within minutes. I talked to the girls and got a friend who is also the dad of one of Bean's friends to take her to school.

They took mom out (I call her mom even though she's my MiL) and got her packed in ice for the ride to the emergency room ( turned out she was running a 104+ temp). DW arranged for DD11 to stay at a friend's house whoe is home schooled as she was too upset to go to school.

Long story short from there is that she had expectorated into her left lung so had pnemonia and was out of it for most of that first day and was in the hospital for 3 days total. DW never left her side and I came in and out during the day and took care of the girls in the evening.

She's much better now but the doctors still aren't able to say with any certainty what triggered it but the bottom line was if DW hadn't gone in to check on her when she did she would no longer be with us. She is on a lot of meds, specifically pain meds as her spine is a mess with cracks in almost all of her vertebrae and bad hips and knees.

We spent the weekend talking about how to move forward from here. Up to this point she had been working 40hrs a week and we had been saying for years that she needed to transition to part time. Oddly enough her getting bed rest for 6 straight days has got her looking and feeling better than she has in a very long time. This is helping to let her recognize that if she rested more she really could feel better.

We still have a lot of talking to do and decisions to make, but we've come out the other side of it and are moving forward.

At my work things are busy and I'm dealing with some personnel stuff which isn't making the days go any better.

So there ya go, life is a great adventure isn't it? I'm keeping a positive outlook and have those last day pictures uploaded. Hopefully I'll have some time one of these evenings to get the day posted or at least a start on it. But both DDs have volleyball practice (M-Th between the two of them) and both have a music recital this week on top of it.

The good news is that we're going to the Beachfront Inn in Brookings, OR on the coast this weekend as a Mother's day present to MiL and DW :) It will hopefully be a nice relaxing time.

that sounds like it was scary but glad to hear she is getting better.

have a great weekend if u go away.

you did not have to apologize for not being around!

Wow, I'm honored that you read and replied to all my posts!

I'd love to see a new pic of your dog and I can't wait for the next update!

Wow! What a scare! I am glad y'all caught it in time. I pray that she came out of it just fine and no repercussions!

What a nice Mother's Day gift! I hope they both enjoy that!

goodluck to the girls in their recital!

that sounds like it was scary but glad to hear she is getting better.

have a great weekend if u go away.

It was pretty intense but we had another big talk last night and she is officially only working part time now - yay! I'm hopeful that we'll be able to go to the coast but now our minivan has started making a knocking sound :headache: I was able to get in in here at the college for the automotive dept to take a look at it. I really hope it's something cheap and easy to fix.

you did not have to apologize for not being around!

Wow, I'm honored that you read and replied to all my posts!

I'd love to see a new pic of your dog and I can't wait for the next update!

Thank you and of course I replied, it was the least I could do with you taking all that time to wade through my TR ;) :)

No long term ill effects that we can see directly from it, but she still has better and worse days. The mother's day gift should be fun for the whole family - hopefully we'll get there.

Thank you - Bean had hers yesterday evening and it was outdoors and got REALLY windy. They were trooper though and did really good. It was a recorder and choir recital - very cute :) Pumpkin Girl's thing is tonight at the High School and she feels underprepared. Their band teacher got fired and they've been dealing with a substitute for a couple of months now and he's apparently a bit of a loser. Hopefully they'll pull it off despite him.

Sorry I'm a little late replying. I'm very sorry to hear what happened with your MIL but so glad she is okay! Thank God your DW found her when she did :goodvibes I hope that your MIL continues to recover and hopefully cutting back to working part time will help her stay healthy.

If y'all go out of town for Mothers Day I hope y'all have fun. Sounds like you all could use a little rest.

Sorry to hear you are having a rough time at work. Hope that gets better for you soon too.

I'm glad "Mom" is okay.

Prayers for your MIL......

Thank you very much Jordan - she's doing pretty good now that she's gone down to part time :)

No worries and no apologies necessary Carla, thanks for stopping by. And yes, things are better and we're settling into a good routine at home having her picked up by DW at lunch time and working just the afternoon ;)

And we leave for the coast in 5hrs - whoohoo!!!! :cool1:  :cool1:  :cool1:

Well here we were, last day – it had been a very long two weeks and yet had gone by incredibly fast. As I had said earlier on in our little journey, it was going to be a MK day and Papa John was going with us! The DDs were very excited to have him with us :D

I was determined to actually make the big rope drop for this one and we planned accordingly. DW was taking MiL to do some last minute shopping and then go back to the resort to organize all of the stuff we had picked up for shipping out that evening. So they were going to skip the morning and meet us for lunch in the park. So she dropped the DDs and I off at the TTC and we joined up with my parents and headed for the express monorail.

We were there in plenty of time to make rope drop, but there was one thing that we hadn’t managed after all or days here. What was it? To ride up front in the monorail of course! Well there were two families ahead of us but I talked to the girls and they were okay with missing the drop if they could be “pilots”.

We finally got our turn and jumped on board. Bean wanted to do some video work, so I handed her the camcorder

…while Pumpkin Girl had a seat next to me
Dis08_1560.JPG

As you can see it was an overcast morning, but no rain so far. We rolled out towards the contemporary resort
Dis08_1561.JPG

And I caught a quick shot of Space Mountain in the distance
Dis08_1562.JPG

We zoomed through the resort and there was the castle

Bean kept busy on the camcorder
Dis08_1564.JPG

I snapped a quick shot of the Grand Floridian

And before you knew it we were passing the entrance to MK. And lo and behold, we were just in time to see and hear the festivities of rope drop – yay!
Dis08_1570.JPG

Dis08_1571.JPG

We got off and almost forgot to get our “licenses” from the monorail driver – lucky save by lil ole me in remembering since the driver didn’t offer them :D We headed down and met up with my parents and picked up a double stroller since both girls still had a bad case of the “I’m tired’s.” When we came through the tunnel there were several of the characters we had seen on our first MK day, but the girls quickly spied someone unexpected!

That’s right – it was the one, the only, Cruella DeVil :D :D :D She is one that doesn’t stand still for anyone, but the girls had learned their lesson from Baloo at AK and tracked her down ;-]
Dis08_1572.JPG

Dis08_1573.JPG

Dis08_1574.JPG

I looked around and saw that Jiminy Cricket was also there and we got the girls through the line to him
Dis08_1577.JPG

Dis08_1578.JPG

That was it for characters in that area so I had the four of them gather for the obligatory Main Street Castle shot :-]
Dis08_1579.JPG

We were early enough that I went against my better judgment and followed the crowds around to the right and into Tomorrowland. The main reason being that the girls hadn’t been on Buzz Lightyear yet and they wanted to ride Space Mountain again …or as I now referred to it, the whiplash express!

I hit the fastpass booth for Buzz and we went on in to ride it on Standby since it only had a 10 minute wait. Hi Buzz!
Dis08_1580.JPG

We had a “blast” on the ride, it was lots of fun. For that first ride I had a car to myself but still used both guns …Hehehe. You can tell I’m left handed because that side made “Galactic Hero” LOL
Dis08_1581.JPG

Then came DD8 and Grandma Dollface, with mom kicking some alien butt!
Dis08_1582.JPG

But you can see from the look of concentration on DD11’s face that she was serious about racking up some points and beat Papa John.
Dis08_1583.JPG

Afterwards my parents took a breather while I took the girls on Space Mountain

Dis08_1586.JPG

It was just as bouncy and jerky as before and I was happy to get off of it (let’s hear it for old man syndrome). We met back up with Grandma Dollface and Papa John and off we went back to Buzz to use our FPs. More of the same, except this time it was Bean who wanted to ride with Papa John, and took him to task with those alien fiends!

After we sprung the girls from the space penitentiary
Dis08_1588.JPG

…we strolled on over to Toontown. I’ll leave off there and continue our adventures as soon as we get back from our Mother’s day weekend ;-]

On to Toontown!

We missed the opening but that was okay. The girls really wanted to explore Mickey and Minnie’s houses.

We hit Minnie’s house first where the girls found a comfy seat…
Dis08_1589.JPG

…and then DD11 broke out her camera. I took a picture of her taking a picture of some pictures - lol
Dis08_1590.JPG

And then here’s the picture she took of those pictures :D
Dis08_1591.JPG

…she liked the pictures
Dis08_1592.JPG

…and painting

Papa John and Grandma Dollface made the rounds

Bean and Grandma Dollface really appreciated Minnie’s artistic talent :-]

Dis08_1598.JPG

We left Minnie’s and walked across to Donald’s Boat. Now personally I think this had SO MUCH potential for interactive gadgets, especially when you walk up to it. But then you enter it and there’s just nothing to it. The girls still checked to see if Donald was home ;-]
Dis08_1599.JPG

Back across the street to Mickey’s house. What a neat and tidy bedroom he keeps.

Judge Mickey was in the pavilion but the girls already had pictures with two other Mickey incarnations and decided to not brave the line for another. We instead wandered back towards Fantasyland and took in a showing of Mickey’s Philharmagic. Still a favorite of mine and Papa John was even impressed by it. After that we split off and the girls and I went down to Liberty Square where I caught another shot of the steamboat.
Dis08_1613.JPG

Why had the girls dragged me down here? I’m sure most of you know already, but for those who don’t you’ll have to wait until the next installment!

Wow, sorry it took me so long to get to this, I haven't been home.

So, Mom is doing better now? I haven't read every post yet, but I caught the update on the scare with your MIL. I hope she'll be all back to normal soon, and she can go on a part time work schedule. Hugs to you, DW, DDs, and MIL.

Great updates, Colonel! Score on getting front of the monorail! Good thing you remembered the licenses!

How on earth did you manage to shoot both guns on Buzz?? I can't even do one!

I love the pictures you got in Minnie & Mickey's houses. Great attention to detail.:goodvibes

Great pix mustard.....:thumbsup2

You've convinced me to look around Toon Town...I just have to find a time it's not overrun with kids......

Now I'm worried. It's Mother's Day weekend and you posted on Saturday! I have loved your photos and story-telling.

Glad that you guys got to ride in the front of the monorail. That is so fun! :thumbsup2

I agree with you about Donald's boat. Could have been so much more :sad2:

love your new name for Space Mountain. It is pretty whiplashish. :rotfl:

Hiya Tat! I know you were doing a LOT of traveling the past few weeks. I appreciate you stopping by :-] Yes, she still has some ongoing memory issues and good days/bad days as far as pain, but overall much better than when she was constantly trying to push herself to get 40hrs in.

Thank you for the hugs - I'll pass them on, and here's some for you and yours!

Thank you! Yeah, I was happy we were able to do the front of the monorail. Up to that point we had been traveling in the handicapped cars so we could stay together with my mom and MiL, so it was a cool change of pace ;)

LOLOL, well I mainly aimed with the left gun and shot wildly around with the right one ;-] :rotfl:

Thanks on the pics in Minnie's house and I'll pass that along to DD11 as some of those were hers :thumbsup2

Great pix mustard.....:thumbsup2

You've convinced me to look around Toon Town...I just have to find a time it's not overrun with kids......

Thankyee Jordan! Yes, I'd say Toontown is worth a look just to experience the feel of the houses. And some of it is interactive, especially in Minnie's kitchen, which makes it extra fun :goodvibes

I'd say go there early but I don't think they open it until 10am, so I guess it's just a roll of the dice as far as getting in there when its not crowded. We got lucky and pretty much had the place to ourselves for a few minutes.

Now I'm worried. It's Mother's Day weekend and you posted on Saturday! I have loved your photos and story-telling.

Hehehe, well hello and welcome! :goodvibes Thank you for posting and not to worry about me posting on Saturday, we were at the coast and the hotel had free internet. Only DD8 and I were awake so she was watching cartoons while I did a quick update

We had a great weekend with an interesting mix of weather. DW and MiL honestly napped quite a bit while I entertained the girls. Now I just have to go through all of the camera and video footage I took of the girls and I at the beach!

great update and pics.

glad u got to ride up front of the monorail, i enjoy that.

Thank you Scott :)

It was out first time so we were pretty excited about it. I did wonder about the plexiglass front window, which was very scratched and weathered looking. It made for dull pictures on an already dull looking morning :P

I figure they have to do maintenance on each train and they must buff them out with some plexiglass polish so not everyone is looking at the World through a foggy window.

hey Mustard great pics as always...and what a score...Jimmeny Cricket and cruella de villee....both hard to get !!!

:thumbsup2

oh and I posted an update...sorry selfish.....self Promotion....now over proceed with your report!!~!

Hey there Pat :D Thanks much and yes, I thought the Cruella interaction was great and Jiminy was a nice bonus!

You got an update going? Cool - I'll be over there today to see what's been going on :thumbsup2

Great update Mustard. I really laughed at you taking a picture of DD11 taking a picture of some pictures in Minnie's house :lmao:

Glad that you guys got to ride in the front of the monorail. That is so fun! :thumbsup2

I agree with you about Donald's boat. Could have been so much more :sad2:

love your new name for Space Mountain. It is pretty whiplashish. :rotfl:

Hehehe, yeah - I couldn't resist the picture of a picture of a picture thing :rotfl2:

And yeah - I'm singing the "monorail" song from the Simpsons from the experience ;)

What is up with them and Donald's boat??? I saw it at DL and thought for sure they would have done something different with the one at WDW, but nope - same empty shell.

Thank you on the new name, I thought it was fitting. Have a good one!

Happy Mother's Day to Mrs. Mustard!!

Thank you very much - and a belated one to you Tat! :dance3: :yay: :dance3:
