I came home from my land/sea vacation on Sunday. Took Monday off to unpack, do laundry, get film developed. We took over 300 pictures on the digital camera, and took 3 disposables (2 regular/1 underwater). We used 1 regular and 1 underwater at Castaway Cay (fear of leaving camera unattended, sand damaging camera, etc).

So I go to the store to have my film developed (1-hour processing) yesterday about 11:30 a.m. I go back around 1 to pick it up and the woman told me that she fed the film in and it got jammed in the machine. Can't tell me when the repairman will be able to come or if any film will be salvaged or even which roll of film it was. Called the store about 4 p.m., repairman still hadn't been there. Called the store today from work around 1 p.m. -- repairman was there.

Stopped at 4:30 on my way home from work to pick up the film. One roll was undevelopable. Apparently, on occasion, the film gets kinked in the cannister or when the camera is rewinding. She said the repairman said it happens every now and then...just a bad bunch of cameras (Kodak).

I got my other roll free -- it was the underwater one, which would be cool except my BF is not a very good photographer and we got a lot of pictures of beautiful water and not much else.

The unprintable roll was ALL my shots of Castaway Cay and the couple we hung out with.

I'm not very happy. Anyone here want to take pity on me and email me some pics of Castaway Cay that I can print and pretend they're my own??? I don't want to have to wait 2 years to re-take them!!

:charac2:

I am so sorry this happened to you. Maybe you should go on another cruise to take more pics.:D

Thanks Staci!

We rebooked onboard for 2006, but I don't want to wait for 2 years. Maybe I'll check out webshots and see what I can find. A whole page in my photo album is going to be missing! :(

I'm so sorry this happened to you! Losing precious vacation photos is SUCH a BUMMER!

A similar thing happened to me after our cruise in 2003. The woman at the film center thought I was nuts to be so distraught:sad: (I was actually teary eyed when she informed me the machine had eaten my film and it was unprintable.) Two of our three rolls of film were gone...the ruined pictures were of our four month old son on his first cruise, his first time in the ocean, his first time at the beach, etc. To make matters worse, she charged me full price for the one roll she was able to develop and didn't even apologize for the ruined film!!!! I'm a fairly quiet, sensible and calm person and just accepted her terrible attitude without complaint. I went home and cried all afternoon!:(

Anyway (thanks for letting me vent)...I'm sorry about your pictures. I hope you can find some replacement shots online!

And Happy Sailing in 2006!:sunny:

Wow...that sure beats my sad story! I probably would have been not very pleasant to deal with if I had lost totally unreplaceable pictures like "firsts"! I give you credit for not going nuts!

On the positive side, the couple we hung out with took lots of pictures, so hopefully they can email us some!

I'm so sorry that happened to you. I do have some shots of Castaway from last October. If you want, I could send you some of the best ones. They are all from our digital camera, so I just have to either print them, email them or burn them to CD and send them to you. Let me know.

:sunny: I have a missing scrap book page also. Although I bought a digital camera for our cruise, I was still hestitant on using it, so I used my good ol 35 mm to take a roll of 36 pictures in Nassau and the DH and DGD/DGS. After that I used my digital for the rest of the trip~~thank God!

When I got home, and ready to take my 35 mm film along with the grandkids disposable cameras for developing ~~guess what I discovered???? In my excitement or else a senior moment I fogot to load my 35mm camera with film!

I was upset but in the end I was just thankful for the digital ones I got and my family chalked it up to another "that's my Gram" incident. lol

You never know what is going to happen!

I have a lot of sympathy for you, as I had a similar experience. We had a Kodak Advantix, and it was literally the last day that the "original" Journey Into Imagination was open. It was also a few days after our first cruise. For the first time ever, I saw Dreamfinder and Figment out front! We had some cruise photos on the camera already and we took a photo of me with my favorite characters. But the camera ate the Advantix disk...at first, we though we had lost them all, but a few were salvaged by the Kodak lab, and thank God two of them were of Figment and Dreamfinder. We lost some of the cruise ones, but I was so happy the irreplaceable ones were okay.

What a bummer! I am so sorry you had such a bad film experience - and from Kodak no less.

After a week at Disney and then Christmas week on the Magic we had the rental broken into and lost both the digital and movie camera along with the kids backpacks. BAD experience - I feel your pain. But, as the saying goes, just gotta go back and take them all over again!

I am so sorry to hear about your pictures.:( We were on the same cruise as you and took lots of pictures of CC as well as a bunch of underwater pictures at Serenity Bay. Email me if you would like me to send you copies
:D How did you enjoy the cruise? We loved it and booked again for Nov. 2006!:Pinkbounc

I am so paranoid about that - they lost two of my rolls from a family trip. I started thinking what if they mess up my media card when I bring that in so I started exclusively using my digital and printing them myself. In fact I decided to get a smaller printer just for my 4x6 prints (I have an Epson R300) and my Epson Picturemate just arrived this afternoon. I had not opened it yet as I wasn't sure whether I really needed it/wanted it. After reading your post I've decided to open it.

Enjoy your PictureMate ... it's gotten rave reviews on a scrapping board I hung out at.
