I'm new... ?? about Dolphin balcony room wi/ child

Hi there!

I am new here. My husband and I have reservations (SPG Cash and Points) to stay at the Dolphin in March with our 2.5 year old. I was thrilled to see that this deal got us a "Balcony with resort view" room... That's good, right?

Well, today a friend pointed out to me that she thinks it is dangerous to have a balcony room with a child staying there. My husband and I were hoping for a room "with a view" as we are likely to be retiring early (think 7-7:30 pm) for our daughter.

Any opinions on this? We would surely never let her out on the balcony alone, if at all. I just can't imagine at a Disney property that most all rooms wouldn't be relatively child safe. I have looked at some of the available resort photos and it is hard to tell.

I think any balcony can be unsafe if a child stands on chair at the rail. The openings between the slats (??) should be narrow enough so your daughter won't slip though and the door should lock so she can't sneak out without you. Since you will supervise your DD while on the balcony, I don't think you should worry about it. Enjoy your view!

BTW, we never stopped at 7:00 for our daughter. She just fell asleep in her stroller and we enjoyed the parks and restaurants while she slept .

We have been traveling with our daughters since they were babies and had a balancy most of the time - WDW and other places as well. Never a problem! Make sure you lock the sliders when your inside. Bing along some window clings so she dosen't bump into them, just put them at her eye level!. (Plug protectors and a night light may be a good idea as well. The slats are very close together and the rails will be over her head. It would be very difficult for your dd to get into trouble even without your watchful eye. Enjoy the balcony and hopefully your view.

ITA with the poster about not stopping if your dd will sleep in the stroller. Esp if your at the Dolpin consider returning to the resort for dd's dinner, bath and change dd into comfy pj's. Settle her into the stroller with a lovey and walk back to Epcot (or even MGM). My dd's always fell asleep on the walk allowing dh and I a night out alone, sort of. We walked WS, saw lots of of the outdoor entertainment and had some great food and drink. We even rolled her into LeCellier one night. They don't always let you bring the stroller but it was not to crowded and they saw dd was asleep so they accomodated us.
