Hopefully I will not attract flames from the copyright PC's of the boards here, but I am making Chicken and Dumplings and Hashbrown Casserole +veggies from knock off recipes of Cracker Barrel's specialties. I will let y'all know how it turns out, I hope I don't get flamed for this.:rotfl:

That depends...will you be telling your family they are eating Cracker Barrel or will you be telling them they are eating a meal INSPIRED BY Cracker Barrel?

More importantly, is there pie for dessert? And, what time should I be over?

Why would you get flamed? People on these boards discuss making Disney recipes all the time so I don't see how Cracker Barrel would be off-limits!

BTW, I hope your hashbrown casserole turns out better than mine did when I made it Christmas morning. Don't know what I did wrong but it was NOTHING like the real thing. And my daughter works at Cracker Barrel - I should have had insider info but I guess not!

Enjoy your dinner! :goodvibes

Yummy! The chicken and dumplings and hashbrown casserole are my favorites at CB. Let us know how it turns out.

Will you set up a gift shop in your living room?:rotfl2:

Oh god. Now I want to go to Cracker Barrel!
Firs the Rice Krispie treat thread and now this... you guys are killing me.

Where did you get the recipes? Or did you just recreate it yourself?

I think you'll be ok but let me put it out there that some of my familys favorite meals include Outback ripoffs.

I make the Alice Springs Chicken and Aussie Cheese Fries.

Hi y'all, I'm back. Well, I can tell you that a trip to Cracker Barrel is well worth the trip, as this was very time consuming! It tasted pretty good, though.

With the Chicken and dumplings, I didn't have celery and parsley, but didn't miss it. It needed to be thickened a little, so I made a little bit of a roux and added it to thicken.

The hashbrown casserole -well, I tried to be good and used fat free sour cream, low fat soup, and low fat cheese, half the butter. It tasted good, but I am sure it would have tasted better laden with all the fat I left out..next time, damn the cholesterol!

Here are the recipes, they are worth a try if you have the time.

I haven't been to Cracker Barrel in over 10 years so my memory may have faded. I do remember they have a wonderful blackberry cobbler.:cool2:

Oh yes, the jokes I was making about copyright infringement was a knock off from the heated discussion on the designer handbag thread. Wow, I am stealing left and right today!

I buy Cracker Barrel corn muffin mix from their store (we are lucky and have a restaurant not far away); I make four dozen muffins at a time for my mom's freezer. She's 89, and loves her some cornbread. That is the best mix I've found, and it's better than my homemade cornbread.
