We've just arrived at the villa having had a fantastic 11 days getting here!
Washington has been the surprise highlight so far. It's a truly beautiful city and we were all blown away. We got really lucky with the weather. It was a little bit chilly but fabulously sunny. We just missed the peak of the cherry blossom, but it was still incredibly pretty around the Tidal Basin. In the words of Arnie: "We'll be back".
The Appalachians and Blue Ridge Mountains were as stunning as we'd expected and again, we were so lucky with the weather - snow the week before we arrived and again after we left, but we had blue skies and sun and we really made the most of the jacuzzi on the balcony of our log cabin (with mountain view

Next up was Charleston - more of what we expected, but didn't disappoint. Then on to Savannah where we holed ourselves up in a riverfront bar for the afternoon and managed to get our tab picked up by Russell from Texas (we seem to be making a habit of this - anyone who's read Kev's trip report from our December trip may recall Bobby from Tulsa and his tab-picking-up-ness). Bobby from Tulsa has a better ring to it than Russell from Texas, but as long as they're paying for our drinks, we'll call them anything they like!
Ooh, forgot to mention that we stopped at Hooters, Rock Hill, SC en-route. (Stop cursing, Kev - it doesn't suit you).
We stayed at some fantastic hotels, but we pulled an absolute blinder in Savannah. The hotel was a converted 1700s mansion overlooking Forsyth Park and only opened last Monday. The decor was uber-contemporary and the whole place was ultra-chic. The bell-hop (having dropped off our bags in our room) commented to our friends in the adjoining room that he thought we must be pleased with our room. Apparently my language was, shall we just say, somewhat appreciative.

Having decided early on that we'd give Atlanta a miss, we decided to spend two nights at RPR (AP rate of $159) and arrived there on Saturday. We made good use of FOTL and did the Mummy to death. Ditto Jake's Bar at RPR.

We're very pleased with our villa - just across the road from our usual haunt of Formosa Gardens. It's the ex-model home at Acadia Estates and we got it for an absolute snip . It's clearly new - most of the towels look as though they've never been used!
