My washing machine has packed up and the engineer can't call until next Monday!

I've just spent the morning emptying the load of washing from the machine and trying to rinse and wring everything out in the sink. I'm not a happy bunny :(.

Oh Hilary - that just stinks! Next Monday! A whole week away! :(

Isn't it awful when that stuff happens - my water tank has blown twice while I was at work! What a mess! Hope you get it sorted out soon. :( ;(

Blimey O'Reilly Hilary, a whole week, stamp your feet !!!

Oh god what are you gonna do between now and then?

Poor You:rolleyes: It is my idea of hell to not have a washing machine as I do about three loads every day:( It has happened though and it was horrible:confused:

A whole week???!! That's ridiculous - can't you call someone else? I'd call the manufacturer and ask them to recommend an alternative engineer or are you bound by insurance to use this person?

If so, I'd get on to the insurance company and tell them.

If you'll have to pay come what may then I'd look into getting someone else - you have my sympathy! My machine is continually in action, I'm lost without it.

(Having a mental picture of Hilary handwashing towels  )

Thanks for the commiserations - I knew you'd understand how much of a pain it is to be left stranded like this. Never mind diamonds, I reckon it's the washing machine that's a true girl's best friend! ;)

Shirley, I have already had an engineer from a small, local company to have a look at the machine a couple of months ago when it first started playing up (long story, but it couldn't be fixed at the time  ) but when I contacted him this morning he said it would be much cheaper for me to go via Hoover and have to pay only for labour, than for him to come back and I'd have to pay for an expensive part as well as labour (do you get the impression he didn't want the job? LOL).

I had towels, sheets and all sorts in there!
thinks: Hmm, maybe that's the problem........

Luckily (for me, anyway - not sure about her) my mum lives only ten minutes away from me, so I shall be speaking to her very nicely later! ;)

........... you didn't mention you had back up :teeth: !!!

I hope your Mum's can take heavy loads or she'll be needing the engineer too

Hilary

Take your mum a box of Chocolates :D She won't mind then

My washing machine broke down last summer and rather than get a backlog of washing I decided to use the local laundrette. It's only a 10 minute walk, if that, from my house.

So I filled a rucksack and a shopping trolley with dirty laundry and nipped down the road.

As it was a sunny day I decided that I could bring the damp stuff home to line dry rather than feed the tumble dryer with coins. What I had forgotten was how much heavier the damp washing would be - I only just managed to lug it home!
