Wow, what a beautiful country and what fun to visit!! I could easily have stayed another week or two. :)

Most of our time was based in Lugano, which really felt more like Italy than Switzerland. But for a couple of days, I ran up to a couple of towns near Interlaken in the Alps and explored. I loved both the Ticino / Tessin area (the Italian speaking area around Lugano) and the German speaking area around the Alps.

I had an absolutely fantastic time, got 10 gig of pictures (yes, 10 *GIG*...granted, I was using a camera where each picture is 1-3 meg, but still... ;) ), and would go back in an instant. And for those remembering me asking, yes I did end up traveling alone for 24 hours and had absolutely no problem at all and would do it again in an instant in Switzerland.

I wasn't really too impressed with what little we saw of Italy, but that was really just the drive from Lugano to Milan and the airport in Milan, and I highly suspect we didn't get to see the best Italy has to offer. ;)

My mom and I are already planning to go back in maybe 2 years since she didn't get to go. :)

I'll share some pictures and more details later. Right now, I'm still fighting jet lag. ;)

Welcome back!!! Glad you had a nice trip! My Mom and Dad went over there a couple of years ago and loved it, too.

Welcome back Tammi!!! I am so glad you had a great trip!!! ANd I cannot wait to see these pictures!!!!!

Welcome back! I love it too, that's the reason I learned to speak French, to go back to Switzerland near the French Alps!

Welcome back. I love Switzerland too, I stayed in near Interlaken and Gstaad when I was 16 on guide (girl scout) camp. The scenary is amazing. I love Italy too. I did an orchestra tour of the Italian lakes and Venice when I was 18. I could easily live there!! If you have the chance to go to Austria I would recommend it. It is very similar to Switzerland only the mountains are bigger and countryside a little nice IMHO.

I'm glad you had a great time Tammi :). Did you happen to go to Thun? DH and I spent 6 weeks in Switzerland back in 1993 living with 3 different families in and around Thun. We were able to travel all around the Thun/Interlaken area, and also to Bern, Lucerne, and Gruyere. Switzerland is the most beautiful place I have ever been to ::yes::. I hope you post a few pictures here on the CB for us all to see.

That is great that you had a good vacation. Wow! :earseek: Lots of pics for sure. I am certain they will be a great rememberance for you. I would guess that maybe you could take and use one a day until you run out and then "go back for more pics" since that seems that it might be 2 years worth at that rate?

:wave2: Welcome home Tammi! Glad you had a great time and that you had a safe trip!! I am eager to see pics too!! ::yes::

DW and I went to Switzerland many years ago and loved it. Everywhere we looked it was like a post card. :D

That sounds beautiful! Switzerland is on my list of places I would like to visit someday! Can't wait to see some pics.::yes::
