For those worried about coming this weekend--the skies are blue and the air is quite clear now! Wednesday it was a little smoky, especially at Long Beach airport. We even saw a bit of ash floating around. It wasn't too bad at DL though, but HOT! Today it's been great. Warm, but not too hot and it doesn't seem smoky to me. If you're hesitating about coming, don't be. It's fine! :goodvibes

It cleared up pretty quickly, once the fires were put out. Do remember that ash is still floating around out there. Not to a great extent, but it is there.

LA County has an advisory warning out for today. Not sure about Orange County, though.

The fog is rolling in today, which will sock in some of the bad air and make air quality worse again, so be prepared.

We got the smoke up here in the Bay Area yesterday. It blew off to the ocean, circled around to the north and then east and came in through San Francisco. It was really smoggy and hazy here. And we're 300-400 miles from the fires!

The official word for today is that air quality in the Disney area is unhealthy for sensitive groups
ie: people with heart or lung disease, older adults, and children

We're much closer to the Santiago fire than Disneyland is and the air is noticeably better today than it has been. Yea!
The whole area here smelled like a giant campfire yesterday. My eyes started watering and my throat was burning everytime I had to go outside.

Be prepared though, lots of OC schools have been cancelled for the rest of the week due to air quality issues. I'm thinking that could impact the everything is a walk-on type reports I've seen for the past few days. ;)

How were the crowds Thurs. & Fri.

Curious if all the people who were nervous (or distracted) translated into smaller crowds.

edit - (just saw cats mom's comments....walk on this week.)

We were there yesterday (Thursday). The crowds weren't bad at all. I wouldn't call the park empty or walk-on rides. I've been there on a weekday when it was less crowded than yesterday. Although the skies were better, the air quality is still poor. It's a little deceiving because the large particles (like ash) and smoke smell are dissipating quickly. What's left is the small particles that really get into your lungs. We are all healthy people and it didn't really affect us, but do be cautious if you have breathing trouble, like asthma. DL still had their parade yesterday, but eliminated the stops so their performers didn't over exert themselves with their dancing, etc. I'm not sure what happened to the HSM parade or the Block party bash.
