So I went to the Disney store this weekend and got DS (who is 6) and DH matching Mickey T-shirts for our trip next May. When I got home and was showing them to DH and DS, DS tells me that he didn't like the shirt because Mickey isn't cool.:confused3 :scared:

Apparently Minnie, Donald, and Goofy are still OK, but not Mickey.:sad2: Please tell me he'll get over this. It's all my fault, we haven't been to WDW since 2005. I guess this means we'll just have to go more often because no child should think that Mickey isn't cool. :hippie:

Give him a day in the World and he'll think Mickey's cool again! :)

When he sees his dad in his Mickey shirt, I bet he'll want to wear his!

Thanks Chris & Steph...I'm sure he'll be fine. He's really excited about our trip to WDW, it just really surprised me that he thought Mickey wasn't cool.

I knew Dis'ers would understand. :);)

I'm sorry - I can't be any help at all because I was informed this morning by my (newly turned) 8 year old that she is too old to like princesses. :scared1:

Apparently, her very good friend has decided SHE is too old to like princesses, so DD decided she'd run that one by me.

I asked her what she thought of me because I LOVE princesses. She just giggled. She did tell me later that she likes them!!!

What a relief! She would have been SO bored at our surprise trip to WDW this December when we eat at CRT, Akershus & 1900 !!!! :lmao:

Oh I am sorry. Kids are funny though-seeing them grow up can be tough :)

Maybe it was just a "MOOD"... my 4yr old boy has them... He will wear something one day and not like it the next... if I take it and put it up he'll ask where it is............. Kids, they change their minds just like us!

Oh, I so know what you are going through!

My DD7 decided this year when we were making our disney trip countdown paper chain (like we do every year, lol!), that she was too old to participate!! I asked her if she was also too old to participate in the trip, lol!:lmao: Of course, she wasn't too old for that though! At least not yet!

Luckily, once my DS4, DD2, and I made the chain, she changed her mind and did want to take a turn taking a link off. Whew, that was a relief, lol!:lmao:

It is so hard to watch them grow up! Happy and sad all at the same time.:confused3

Although, I bet when your DS is actually at WDW, Mickey will be cool again and he will love wearing his shirt along side his Dad.

I'm betting he'll change his mind, esp. once he's in WDW.

My DD12 & DS9 actually wear our matching family WDW t-shirts during our trips. Disney is the only place I would ever get them to agree to do the matching thing....and we wear matching shirts everyday during our 8-9 day trips!!

ACK!!!! Not like Princesses...what is wrong with these kids. :lmao: I'm so glad she told you her true feelings, sounds like you've got a great trip planned.

I'm very impressed that you've kept it a surprise too, I could never do that.

It's funny how when they see other kids having fun they suddenly want some of the action.

I'm not too worried though, who could not love the Mouse when you're at his house. :)

It must be the age as far as the princess thing. my 8 year old told me that I can't buy her princess stuff (meaning clothes) anymore wihout asking her first. Apparently, Tink is still cool, but the princesses are more boarderline.

Why? Why? Why?

My 10 year old doesn't want to wear Disney clothes for out upcoming trip.:scared1: He wants to be "normal".:rotfl:

My soon to be 5 year old daughter knows I looove disney princesses and says she does not just to pull my chain.:snooty:

My other son ,7, told me he wants a Chip and Dale shirt. :yay: He still remembers when he was held by his safety leash OK. I was at DL with three young children and did not want to lose any. DH stayed home.) by Chip while I looked on. He did not want to give him back to me.:rotfl:

I found someone on Ebay who paints the characters for a great price. I am getting Minnie and Daisy dressed as Cinderella and Belle to wear for Mickey's halloween party. My daughter will be sporting Minnie and Daisy as Malificent and the Evil Queen. Too cute!

It should be fun!!

Oh dear, I must be the evil Mom because I would be the one saying, "Do you want to go to Disney? Then you will wear this shirt."

I made my kids wear the same Halloween costumes for two years strait! We were in different areas so it didn't matter and they still fit.

I just said, "Do you want candy? Then you will wear it."

My kids get over it and then they are fine.

Luckily dd is only 4 so she's still into the Princess stuff. :)

Are those T-shirts you got off ebay? They sound really cute. :)

Oh don't worry, he'll be wearing it. LOL I did spend $3 on in after all. :)

Yes! There are all kinds out there. The girl I am working with is Kathy and her ebay ID is Bednobs -n- Broomsticks. You can search Boutique painted tees or Boutique Disney. Let me know if you need any other info. I have so overbought. I even bought myself a custom Mickey sun visor, hehe!:yay:

Thanks for the info...I've kind of overspent this month with all the summer deals out, so I'll have to wait a little bit. Luckily our trip isn't until next May so I have some time...I'll have to check it out though. :)

I wonder if she could paint Mickey dressed up as Spider Man or Darth Vader. :)

I thought it was just my DD's. Both of mine disliked princesses when they got to be around 8, but Tink is still good. It seemed like over night that princesses became uncool, but they sure act like princesses sometimes!:rotfl:

My DS no longer wanted to wear Disney clothes by 1st grade. Luckily, they don't have to wear a Mickey shirt to have a great time at WDW. :)
