...on Halloween. I know, timing is bad, right? Anyway, I'm wondering if there's anyone out there who's been through it, can you give me some ideas of what you can eat now and any other helpful advice? Thanks in advance.

By the way, I hope I don't get flamed. I know some people have very strong opinions about gastric bypass. Believe me, I'm not entering into it lightly.

No advice just a :grouphug: Hope everything goes well and you recover quickly.

No advice either, just hoping everything goes well. :grouphug:

I've only had two friends who've had it but both have come out fine! It's been about a year for both of them and they're doing really well. And no, they're not related in any way they just both happen to be in my circle of friends. Good Luck and Big Hugs!

I am sure you will do well. It will turn your life in the right direction and put you on a new and exciting path.

I sent you a PM. Best wishes and :wizard: from a fellow bypasser!!

Fellow bypasser here too. I just hit my 3 year mark and I'm doing great! Are you wanting to know what you can eat right after surgery or what we are able to eat at this stage of the game? Please feel free to PM me with any questions. I'm open to any. Hugs and best wishes!!!

Best Wishes for you on your upcoming surgery!!

Something recommended by a Dr. I work with is to take vitamin C before any surgeries. It can help build up your immune system. Of course, check with your Dr. first!!

I'll be thinking of you on Halloween!

congratulations on your decision and best of luck to you. I don't have any advice but my mom had gastric bypass about 13 months ago and she could not be happier. She has lost about 100lbs and is happier than she's been in a really long time. It was a very serious decision and she feels that she made the right one for her. I know, too, that a lot of people have strong opinions against it but I'm happy for her that she has had such a successful result from it.

No advice here, just the best of luck to you Glynis! Don't worry about flames, you are doing what you feel is best for you. Take care. :grouphug:

... I'm 2 years out and doing well. Check out my website under the pics of the incredible shrinking woman, www.spaces.msn.com/members/debbietackett. At first I did only my protein shakes and vitamins, now, I eat a variety but still mostly protein and take my vitamins. PM me for further answers. :flower:
Best of luck to you and remember, walk, walk, walk. :teeth:

I'd love to know what you could eat in the first days and weeks after the surgery, and what you can eat now. Any tips on making the recovery any easier would be great, too. I'm having the procedure done laparoscopically, so hopefully recovery won't be too bad.

You look positively amazing!!!!!

I hope that my transformation is as good as yours. I keep telling myself I'm not doing this surgery to improve the way I look, but to keep myself alive for my kids. However, a trimmer, slimmer me would be a nice bonus! :teeth:

I wish you the best of luck. Please remember to keep us updated on your progress as I am sure we will be happy to give you lots of encouragement!!!

Best wishes on your upcoming surgery.. No flaming here... :grouphug: .. I have several coworkers who have had it and several past coworkers.. 2 of my friends have had it and it is a lifechanging thing, but changed their lives for the better.. Before you know it you will be a new person.. and will never look back..

i have a friend who had it done over 2 years ago in order to get his weight down for likely transplant surgery (he would never have qualified at his original weight). both he and his wife are major proponants of support groups. saying that talking to someone who is going through similar things can provide so much insight. his wife says she thought she was alone in her feelings re. the life changes that have occured due to her husband's surgery until she joined a spousal support group.

from what i understand, this is life changing for both the patient and their immediate family.

best of luck

No advice here either but just sending you my best wishes. As others have said please do keep us updated. :grouphug:
