I'm having a mini meltdown: need outside perspectives please

Mother in Law is 85.

She is a foodie.

Make it happen.

Don't cancel the ADRs.

The day will come where you and DH will be glad you were able to share one of the loves of her life with her - food.

PS - Kudos to her at 85 for still trekking around Disney!

Had something similar happen to me in 2013. I went with my mom and two aunts. Made up all these ADRs based on their likes and dislikes. Mom said cancel them all but one.... That's too much.

Well wouldn't you know it. The one I had kept was the first night at Ohana. For the rest of the trip they asked where we had reservations next, which would be no where..... We had to scramble each day and ended up with some funny times at restaurants that we all liked but weren't our first or even second choices at like 9 pm.

I would just stop talking about it and say "You're welcome" later.

Seriously, if your DH is worried about MIL stamina he will be thanking his lucky stars that you have planned a respite every day. I remember how you thought the ADR's out in order to accomodate your DMIL, and IIRC< these are the choices that made the most sense given your daily plans. I would leave them be, and as others suggested, make changes in th event you need to once you arrive.

I had a conversation with a self proclaimed "Diseny Vet" the other day, and she made my head spin! I have no idea what WDW she is familiar with, but it is not the same one I frequent, but she absolutely knew what she knew. People really do not understand the benefit of a meal set in place unless they are looking for one, and cannot find dinner on the fly.

If you were on a CS plan, and your DMIL was onboard, with canceling, I woudl consider it. But you have a prepaid plan that will only be a value if you use it, and the odds of you using it without plans are slim. AS one poster suggested, you will be able to enjoy all of Nine Dragons menu items. LOL!

You did well, leave it be for now and see what you need to change when you all are there and have at least tried it your way.

Sorry for confusion-
We have dining plan; but not deluxe.

Off the top of my head-
(I'm being lazy;its late)

12pm-the Wave
7.30am (before church)- Olivia's
5pm-beaches & cream
11am-sci fi diner
11.15am-captains grille
11.30am-Sanaa

Remembered there's a plaza at 4pm also.

Wait...how the heck are you doing all of those on one day? The three that are within 30 minutes of each other are nowhere close to each other.

How funny, I am the one who wants to book up and my wife wants to wing it more! I think we are going to book the hard to get reservations, and then wing it the other nights, we are on DxDP.

Using the MDE app, you can roughly work out what you can and can't book on the day or day before.

I think also your sit down meals will be a great way for you and MIL to rest and relax, and be waited on!

I agree, keep your reservations. If they are places you want to go, it will be very hard to get them back!

I hope you all enjoy the trip! 85 and going to Disney - way to go!

I am so glad I posted on here-alternative was a major rant at dh
Not to say that won't still happen:mic: :chat:

The general consensus is clearly keep them-so that's what I'm doing.:thanks:

I've enjoyed your various tales.

And yes, we are British.
Dmil tells all her friends she's off to the grand Floridian for afternoon tea-even though they've no idea where she's referring to :rolleyes2
She's like a giddy child & we are all super excited.

Btw-she can't decide what to have enscribed in her magic band & changes her mind all the time!!
I've given her a weekend deadline:teeth:

That's sooo funny.
Now, that's really quite an appetite!

I wasn't trying to be funny. With no days attached, only times, it looks as if those are for one day. How spread out are they?

You'll risk eating a lot of cheeseburgers if you cancel everything. ADRs can be hard to come by depending on where. If you already paid for a dining plan, I'd keep the ADRs to know you will get your money's worth.

6 weeks would put you towards the end of September. Are you aware of The Epcot Food and Wine Festival that will be going on at that time? If your MIL is a real foodie she will absolutely LOVE it. I would plan at least 2 days there to take it all in. Try to avoid weekends as it is very crowded. You can use your snack credits on the DDP for most of the items at F&W (non-alcoholic). I am going end of October and have FD and staying at Pop. I kept the counter service dining and will use it to supplement F&W. I will be at Epcot two full days and a few evenings out of 8 days.

Yes, don't miss the food and wine show at Epcot; it's pretty amazing. Also pretty crowded on weekends when the locals are there. So glad your Mil is looking forward to the trip.
