I'm grumpy because you're dopey... A TR - Final Thoughts 10/15

Hootiss was right...

It’s Winnnie the Pooh!

DH’s

Mine

IMG_0343.jpg

This is now the 2nd time in a row I've drawn Pooh characters (in June we drew Eeyore) I want to draw "real" Disney characters!

After our class, we headed out and it was raining. I felt so vindicated for making DH carry the ponchos!

All plastic-ed up so we wouldn't melt from the rain, we headed towards Star Tours.

IMG_0344.jpg

The line said 30 minutes. Are you kidding me? Everyone must have the same idea we did. I've never waited for that ride.

Lots of people there are

102_0983.jpg

102_0984.jpg

It’s okay though, because the queue is kind of fun and detailed

102_0981.jpg

102_0982.jpg

IMG_0347.jpg

We were put in the left line and we kept passing this long line of people. It was really weird. I asked the people in front of us if they had fast passes - they said no, but they though it was weird too.

102_0986.jpg

102_0988.jpg

I'm not sure why, but our line was moving really fast compared to the other one, and we got in relatively quickly. Though it was still the longest I’ve waited for this ride in quite a while.

IMG_0350.jpg

102_0987.jpg

We were ushered into the loading area

102_0989.jpg

And soon boarded our flight
I know the ride is really out of date, but it's just so classic. I'm sad to see it change.

IMG_0351.jpg

I’m never taking a flight with a new robot pilot ever again!

102_0991.jpg

Our main goal was to ride Star Tours on last time before it goes down for referb, so naturally, our first stop was the Annimation Academy.

Sure, makes perfect sense.

Pooh would have been my guess for your work-in-progress drawing. You can really see him come together even from the beginning. And what's this about Pooh not being a "real" Disney character? I think I Pooh character might be a fun change of pace for me since I only seem to get Donald, Goofy and Pluto.

Great details from Star Tours. We waited until later in the day to ride, and we walked right on. Felt weird that I used my GAC when everyone else walked right on too! I actually like that they're redoing it. I mean, I do hope that they just get that movie sharper because one part of it got me feeling so dizzy that I had to look away! I think the ride itself is great; the movie is just dated in terms of clarity.

I've never seen so many people in line for Star Tours! How weird they had you get in a second line.

I'm like you...I'm a little bit sad to see the old Star Tours change. I just love it! But at the same time, I think the changes seem pretty neat. Only time will tell, I guess!

I just found your TR and read every page to catch up.

OKW looks lovely. I've never stayed there and it is one of the only resorts that we have not visited either.

We returned a week ago tomorrow. I saw the nerdy stuff too and thought it was cute. :goodvibes

I love Mouse Gear but you know what I noticed this year? It smells like poop. No kidding. Did you notice it? It was funny because everyone in my family noticed it each time we went in. :lmao:

Man, I was so hoping that you would get the D&B bag, but on the other hand was happy that your DH was ready to go when you got back from DTD!

Can't wait to read more. popcorn::

I knew you'd get our obvious logic :lmao:

Yeah, I kind of guessed it as soon as we drew the round circle :rotfl: But I couldn't guess because DH was a dorkus and made her tell him what we were drawing.

Licensing restrictions = not "real" character in my book. I don't consider the muppets or the Pixar characters "real" either. But that's just me, and I'm probally bitter because I don't really like pooh (yeah, I said it...)

We've been 4 times now, and have drawn Pooh characters 3 times (pooh, tigger, eeyore) and Goofy. I'd like to branch out!

That's what we usually do too. This was about 6:30 pm - so it was pretty late. I have no idea why there was such a line? Totally nutty! Panic said it gave her a headache because of the blurryness too. I didn't notice blurryness, but I'm not super observant :confused3

Me neither (well, not in this century at least, I do remember some crazy lines way back in the day) the only thing I can think of is everyone else felt the same way we did. I agree the changes seem cool - especially the changing experiences! I just like the old cheezyness of the thing. I'm afraid it will be like the pre-quils. Good in concept, but too far from the campiness of the original to be great!

Howdy and Welcome! Thanks for dropping by!

We'd never visited OKW either and honestly didn't have high hopes, but it's now high on our list of "should return to" resorts!

You just returned last week... must go read your TR :surfweb: :rotfl:

Yes, I have noticed the "poop" smell in Mouse Gear. I'm not sure why, but it is noticeable and gross!

I was pretty convinced that DH would not be awake, and the bag would be mine, but I was so happy that he woke up. I love when he surprises me like that :lovestruc

You don't have to wait too long, I've got another update coming up shortly!

okay.... this installment contains one of my worst theme park moments evah (second to the time I peed on Lucy at Knottsberry farm) so I apologize in advance, I'm just going to get it over with. It gets better after this - promise. Sorry!

After star tours we had about 30 minutes before we needed to get on the boat and head to dinner.

IMG_0352.jpg

It was still raining, and the crowds had cleared out significantly…or so it seemed.

IMG_0353.jpg

This shot is weird the way everything lines up – Disney Magic?

IMG_0354.jpg

So I suggested we go on TOT, since that line moves quickly. DH said he really wanted to go on RnRC. I said I didn't think that was a good idea. I also was just boiling and not feeling well, and I suggested just walking on the Boardwalk, but he said he really wanted to, so I relented, and we went in the single rider line.

IMG_0360.jpg

I said I wanted to go on RnRC?

IMG_0356.jpg

Leave me alone. I want to nap

IMG_0357.jpg

Now normally, the single rider line is 15 minutes tops.

What could go wrong?

IMG_0358.jpg

Soon, we were in the building waiting to get in line.

IMG_0361.jpg

This is the 2nd time that the CM in the “Artist Entrance” area has been so rude to the single riders. (I think it was actually the same CM both times) Saying things like “groups will be separated “ in a really rude and sarcastic tone. Totally a turn off for this ride. However, it didn’t help that I was really starting to not feel good from the heat and dopey DH.

IMG_0362.jpg

It took about 10 minutes to get through the first part of the line, and soon we were in the back alley behind the studio.

IMG_0363.jpg

Hm…. If DH continues to be Dopey, maybe I should look into this.

102_0992.jpg

I looked at my watch, and it was almost time to catch the boat over to the YC.

I told DH, and he said, “we’re almost there, it’ll be fine”
Noooooooo……… Don’t say that, you just jinxed us!

102_0993.jpg

We were in the line able to see the limos taking off for at least an hour. Every 10 minutes or so, I would suggest to DH that we leave. And point out we still had another day, and could come back. But he refused to leave; he wanted to ride now.

Meanwhile we could see limos taking off - clearly with empty seats, yet the single riders were not being used. And CMs were going through the regular line looking for groups of 2 or 3. Seriously?

Ever though we were in the air conditioning, I was so hot and DH kept wanting to hold me, which was just making me hotter. I was getting grumpier by the minute. After about 30 minutes in the line, I just knew this was not going to end well, but it was too late to do anything about it.

With 15 minutes to our ADR time, and we were still in line I asked DH if he wanted to cancel the ADRs and just go somewhere else. He emphatically said no. I was so frustrated and confused.

Eventually we made it to the front of the line - and we got to sit together in the car. I haven't sat next to DH on RnRC in years, so that was kind of cool.

We headed out. There was still hope-if we made it on the boat now, we'd just be a few minutes late. Of course the boat was pulling away when we got to the dock.

That was just the straw that broke the proverbial camel’s back. was so mad, I couldn't even look at DH. I know it wasn't his fault, but he insisted on going on the ride, and wouldn't let us leave, and I was so hot and just starting to not feel well (later realized I most likely had sun poisioning) and the last two days of dopey DH was really making me crabby plus I was hungry. I had a mini-melt down, tears and all, right there in the friendship boat line.

Not my proudest moment. I’m sure the other people in the line were like “what is wrong with this grown woman?” but it was just too much.

DH was just standing there bewildered why on earth I was so upset about being late for an ADR. So he approached my meltdown with apathy like it wasn't a big deal - which just made me more upset. Men!

I just stared at the ducks and tried so hard stop crying. I thought it was so stupid to be crying, but I just couldn’t help it. I’m so lame!

IMG_0364.jpg

Once DH realized I was crying, he got concerned, and he wanted to hug me and be close to me. I was so hot and worked up, that the heat from his body suddenly made me ill. I ran out of line to the nearest garbage can, with DH chasing after me. It was not pretty.

We sat on the bench and I calmed down a bit. I had regained my composure by the time the boat came. I didn’t feel ill anymore, I figured I had just worked myself into a tizzy – then later when I saw how red I was, and the rash that had developed on my torso, and it all made much more sense – sun poisoning.

DH asked me what I wanted to do, and I wasn’t nauseous anymore (and didn't know about the whole sun poisoning thing yet) but I was super hungry so we decided to hop on the boat and head to the Yachtsman.

Thanks for the :yoda: I will take good care of him. Hope you feel better soon! And I promise I am not laughing at you, but with you:goodvibes I am really enjoying your adventure.

Aww..what a crappy experience! I can definitely understand you reaching the boiling point. Plus with the sun-poisoning factored in, it is no wonder it happened! I just hope things get better, and maybe that mini-meltdown is what DH needed to get perky again :thumbsup2

Glad you like the gift, I picked it our special just for you :rotfl:

The night gets better after this I promise. It's okay, you can laugh at me, everyone does. Just don't point, it's not nice :lmao:.

It was bad, I felt way lame, but things get much better.

We made it to the Yachtsman, 45 minutes after our ADR time. They told us it wouldn’t be a problem, but it would be about 15 minutes

I went to the bathroom to splash water on my face and solidify the calm-down. DH felt so bad, so he did the one thing that he knew would make me happy.

He bought me a Magical Star.

IMG_0365.jpg

He was dead on, one look at the glow-y goodness, and I was back and much happier.
DH got some punch drink kind of thing.

IMG_0366.jpg

No sooner had our drinks arrived, than the buzzer went off, so I left DH to pay the bill and I went and got a table. The waiter asked where we were from, and I said Wisconsin. He looked and me like he wanted to say something, but decided not to. I thought it was weird, but I was too distracted by my glow drink to care.

DH finally came back, and we ordered the chacutrie platter - which had an assortment of meats and cheeses on it. It was yummy.

IMG_0367.jpg

The waiter made some comment about how it was good for us since we were from Wisconsin (you know because obviously we like cheese and meat) I thought maybe that was what the earlier awkwardness was – but I wasn’t sure.

At this point, I had switched to pomegranate lemonade and was on my 3rd glass by the time the platter came. I was pretty dehydrated.

Then my big moment - I ordered a steak! I had been a vegan since I was 8 , It started to cause health problems and was getting expensive, so over the last 5 years or so had slowly been working my way back up to eating beef. I started with fish and chicken, etc. In January, I took the leap to Buffalo, and had been working in beef into my diet through ground meat like 1/2 beef 1/2 pork…. And I had steak twice at home. Ordering it in a restaurant was kind of exciting for me.

I got the filet. Seeing as I don't have much to compare it to, so I'm not sure how much my opinion counts, but it was DELICIOUS.

IMG_0368.jpg

DH got the Rib Eye, and he declared it delicious as well.

IMG_0369.jpg

He said he thought the Yachtsman was much better than Narcoosees. I’m not sure I agree with that, I thought they were both extremely good.

During dinner, our waiter kept coming back and talking to us, but I always got the feeling he wanted to ask something, but wasn't sure about it. After dinner, We contemplated dessert, but we were way too full. So, as the waiter brought our check, he finally asked… "so you're from Wisconsin… does that mean you're Packer fans?" In my family, its like a birth right - yes - DH not so much. So I answered, "Yes, of course" then he asked, "So are you Brett Farve fans?" I looked at his nametag - he was from New York - Ahhh, it all makes sense now! So I answered, "I stopped being a Farve fan in '99." That opened up the flood. Though he admitted he was also a Cowboys fan, so by default he was a Farve fan because in the 90's Farve won so many games for them. So funny!

In January, our reception was during the Vikings/Saints play off game. There was a whole room of 40 + Wisconsinites cheering for the Saints (we even ended the reception early to go watch the end of the game!) People kept asking us if we were Saints fans - we said, no we're Packer fans. Everyone understood. Ahh football - the universal language!

Stress, dehydration and sun poisioning must be a terrible combination. So sorry to hear about all that, but at least the evening seemed to end on a high note. That's great that you were still able to eat at Yachtsman even being late for your ADR.

The Yachtsman looks really good... so glad you were able to have a nice meal after your afternoon :goodvibes

That's too funny about your reception. My DBF used to be a Packers fan, but now I've convinced him to cheer for the Colts!

Yeah, it was just a horrible. It could have been a lot worse if I hadn't been drinking liquids all day. Dinner was fantastic. Fortunately our original ADR was at 8:00, so it was almost 9 when we got there and the restaurant was emptying out. I'm so glad, because it was so yummy! Plus, the night isn't even close to over yet!

Yachtsman was so yummy! It also helped me calm down and re-hydrate.

Sacrilege!! Colts??:rotfl: Oh well, I guess I'll forgive you:lmao:

So after stuffing our faces, we waddled to the bus stop to go to the MK. Yep- I had recovered and DH had his second wind so we weren't done yet!

There were evening EMH until 1:00. Panic and I had so much fun and got so much done at the evening EMH in June, I had high hopes.

We headed into the MK – and boy was it blurry

IMG_0370.jpg

Maybe that Magical Star was stronger than I thought. Is it just me or does that lady look like a pumpkin?

IMG_0371.jpg

Oh yeah, it’s Halloween…. He’s supposed to look like that

IMG_0372.jpg

2nd time of the day we were in the MK and the first (blurry) glimpse of the castle

IMG_0373.jpg

IMG_0375.jpg

DH wanted to check out the Laugh Floor, so we headed to Tomorrow Land.

IMG_0377.jpg

We got there at 11:01 - and the CM informed us that she just shut the doors to the last show of the evening. Well that was the theme of the night – us being late – so whatever. We’ll catch it some other time.

We were still too full to do anything involving motion - so we decided to head to the TTA or People Movers or WEDWay whatever it is calling itself these days.

The strangest thing EVAH happened…. I could no believe my eyes. There was a 20 minute wait! Are you kidding me? For the TTA? I double checked with the CM that the line was for the TTA and not the Astro Orbiter, and he said yes, shaking his head. He couldn't believe it either.

I have a feeling these people will be disappointed when they realize they’re not in the space mountain line.

IMG_0378.jpg

Have you ever seen such a thing?

IMG_0379.jpg

Unwilling to wait for the TTA (though it is a personal favorite), we headed into Fantasy land, and the construction had encroached more since June, it was awkward to walk through and kind of claustrophobic.

DH suggested waiting in line for one of the Fantasyland rides, like Peter Pan, but we opted for PhilharMagic instead.

IMG_0380.jpg

Even though there was no line, we were still compelled to rush through the line instead of soak it in

IMG_0381.jpg

IMG_0382.jpg

There were really obnoxiously pushy people, but we got in right away, and had to crawl over this annoying family that plunked themselves in the middle of the row. Why must people do this?

Huh? Where are we?

IMG_0383.jpg

That helped us digest a bit, but not enough to want to go back and try Space Mountain or Buzz Lightyear, so we just continued our leisurely trek around the park.

I love the TTA as much as the next person, but I have to agree that there had to be some disappointed people that night. What a line!

I really like Philharmagic, but i absolutely hate when people just stop in the middle. I mean, they say move to the other side about a million times. Oh well...what can you do? :)

ugh. UGH. brett favre. massive tool. anywho. glad you're eating steak again. its not right that someone from wisconsin doesnt inhale beef in any form. :thumbsup2

All caught up, I really enjoy your sense of humor. Instead of Dopey, your DH reminds me more of Sleepy these last couple installments you've written! Lord have mercy I hope he never gets ahold of some whacky weed, he'll never wake up

I can relate to the melt down, I had one of them myself on our last trip. You're around all these happy people & yet on the verge of tears you do wonder what is the matter with me :confused3 It sounds like you had a case of heat stroke (is that what you meant by sun poisening?) You probably weren't drinking enough water either. I'm glad you felt better & made it to your dinner at Yachtmens afterall :goodvibes and your evening didn't end there, although your luck didn't seem to be too good in tomorrowland :sad1:

Now what's this about not liking Pooh? For shame

:tigger: I'm not lame!

:rolleyes1 popcorn::

Aww that really stinks about the RNRC/Hollywood Studios stuff. Atleast you still made it to Yachtsman. Gotta love the comment about the meat and cheese being a good choice for you guys. Yep, all us Wisconsinites care about are meat and cheese.

20 minutes for TTA?! That is crazy! :scared1:

I don't think I've ever seen a line that long at the TTA. Did the park feel more crowded than usual or was the long line there just a fluke? How very odd.
