I went to SCAD for Animation and did the program after I graduated last Fall ^_^ I know a lot of people that did it during school too and looking back at it, I wish I had take a semester off and done it between classes. Go talk to career services and they can get you a meeting or info of people still at SCAD that did the program you could talk to.
I'd say, do your first year of classes since it's all your building-block classes and you can really get a feel for the school, build some friendships there and put in for the CP during your winter quarter for the fall quarter. That way you'll only miss Fall quarter and not Winter AND Spring. Not to mention Fall quarter is awesome because you get to experience
MNSSHP,
MVMCP, the food and wine festival and CM discounts. There's lots of great stuff those 4-5 months. Unless you decide to extend and stay a year at Disney, then you'll have a whole year off to work there.
It's a great experience and you can work on building your portfolio the way you want it while you're there, win/win
