just buying shoes for DS14! His feet have grown four and a half sizes in five months :scared1: (Can you tell I've never dealt with a teenage boy before :rotfl:)

I'm sorry, he will eventually quit growing. I have to replace DH's shoes almost that often because he wears them out at work, so I can sympathize. I have gotten him to start looking at Kohl's, he can still get the brand name he wants at a price I can afford and he has to wait until I have a coupon or Kohl's cash.

Ouch! That sounds painful! Not only for your pocketbook, but for his body! My boys have big feet, but not so fast growing!

I feel your pain. My son is almost 12 and it seems like his jeans are getting shorter and his shoes tighter on a weekly basis.

There was a time that I was buying new shoes (AND sneakers AND football cleats) every month. Thank goodness that their feet have stopped growing. Now if the rest of their bodies would do the same! :lmao:

:scared1: Wow. Maybe he needs to be barefoot for a while?

I hope that you aren't buying expensive shoes right now. Time to tell him he gets the "cheap" $35 sneakers for now until he wears the same size for at least 6 months. :lmao:

DS14 did that last year (5 sizes), but THIS year his shoe size has remained the same since last August.

His clothes, OTOH, have had to be replaced 3 times since school started because he grew in height by 14 inches in that same period. He is now wearing men's sizes, so at least his casual shirts won't have to be replaced for a while. I'm hoping he bulks up a bit over the summer because men's size 28 waists are hard to find.

So, what happened to DS is that his feet grew a whole bunch at once and then essentially stopped to let the rest of his body catch up; maybe you'll be able to get a break on shoes next year, too.

LOL - I've already done that. I told him we're shopping Payless until this growth spurt is over. In fact, we just went to the BOGO sale yesterday. :woohoo:

DS (15) has never had a growth spurt yet is 5'10" or so. I SO hope he never has one!

I'm in the same boat ;)

My son will be 13 and it seems he went from a youth size 5 to an adult size 7/8 with no stopping in sight. He's a skateboarder and wears the sneakers out quickly. They are not cheap. I need to start getting them at Kohl's with their coupons.

The jeans are another story . Growing like a weed

I feel your pain. My oldest is not quite 9 yet (not till next month) and we just bought him MEN'S size 8 shoes. He's about 4'10. I kind of hope he shoots up a bit over the summer, as he is definitely out of proportion right now!

ETA: Chris31997: My 5-yr-old just got size 13.5 sneakers. What size does your son wear? I don't know if he is average or not.

My husband wears a size 13, so I know where I'm headed...

My son just turned 21 and he is 6'6" and thankfully only wears a size 15 shoe. I can still find those at a few places. He stopped growing when he entered high school which I was really thankful for. I am only 5'2"! When he was younger he would skip sizes suddenly.

Went through the same thing 2 years ago with my then 12 year old, he started 6th grade at 5ft, and at the end of the year had grown 7 inches, 3 pants sizes and 3 shoe sizes as well. He also had the classic growing pains(legs mostly) as well as being tired all the time! He has slowed down in the past 2 years , only 2 sizes and 1 pant size(of course that has a lot to do with the fact that they wear them so low), won't be 15 til November and he is a shade under 5'10''.

:confused3 Seeing how we live in HI, we don't wear tennis shoes. All DS wear is crocs and flip flops:rolleyes1 Of course he has worn off the sizes of those.

Now you are scaring me!!!! :scared1: I have 2 boys and my oldest went through a growth spurt right before I had DS#2.

I have a 12 year old that wears men's size 28 too. It's hard to find a pair of jeans that aren't too big in the rear and legs. He needs the length but is skinny.

My DS13 is already 2 inches taller than me and it seems like he gets new shoes ever other week. But he just wears them out skateboarding. It's a good thing he has a job because now I make him buy his own. We get all his shoes on sale if we can at the outlet malls or online. His shoes, his growth spurts and his eating us out of house and home are what is gonna get us. :rotfl:

Now I don't feel so bad about DS15 growing 6 inches in one year - at least it was only one shoe size. I was a little annoyed when the dress pants I bought him in August no longer fit in November (he'd only worn them 3 times!), but he did a lot of the growing during shorts seasons so some of his jeans survived the whole year. It's a little easier too now that he's in mens sizes. There is a lot more selection in the mens 32 waists than there was in boys 16 slim!

I feel your pain. My ds 13 is 5' 11" tall, wears size 11 or so shoes and is skinny as a rail. He only weighs about 130 lbs. I have a hard time getting him pants because he needs a 28 waist but 32 leg. Not an easy combination to find! A lot of the cheaper clothing stores don't even carry a 28" waist and it is hard to find a 32" leg if you do get the 28 waist.

I am always on the lookout for clearance shoes and other clothing for all my kids. They all have stuff tucked away in their closet for when they hit the next size. I got my daughter's snow suit for next year at the Sear's outlet centre for $14. Snow pants and jacket. I was happy.
