I can't believe it! :goodvibes Mom and I were talking at lunch today about how bummed we were that our AP's were expiring next week and how we wished we could just hop in the car and take a quickie trip one last time before they expire. (we live in Northern Cal) so it would be a bit hard but it is sorta doable but tough. Well she said we should go for it but they literally expire next wednesday and if it were like 2 or 3 weeks we would have done just that but wednesday was just TOO soon to really plan anything. So we got to talking and I said what the heck we should just renew them and get the 20 buck savings cuz we were going to renew them in March anyway and then they would be good through next June and we could use them for our March and April trips and we would be good to go and then we COULD go now for a quickie trip.

So we went back to work to see if we could get decent airfare and a room and if THAT worked then it was a go. Well I was able to find a flight down for 77 and a flight home for 89 which is not too bad considering everything and I found a room at the Ramada Maingate. Never stayed there before.

Anyone?

I hope it is not a roach motel. At this point it is just a bed but I hope it is not awful. I have stayed in pretty bad places and I am just glad to have a roof over my head at this point cuz most places were all booked up that I prefered. Either that or they were WAY more than we wanted to pay. But we got a room, got airfare so we are SET. We are going on July 14th and will be there basically Tues through Thur. Not long I know but enough to have some fun. I am excited cuz otherwise it was going to be a LONG time till we were there again (next March!).

I have been going through MAJOR withdrawals listening to everyones trips and my DW trip is still almost 6 months off. So I am majorly excited!

I'm going to Disneyland!! Woo Hoo! :cool1:  :woohoo:

Yay! That is exciting! Ramada Maingate is not a roach motel at all! It is not really near the maingate, I think it is like a 15-20 min walk or you can take ART. I had friends that stayed there a few months ago and said it was a nice hotel, just a little farther than they thought it was going to be. Have fun!:thumbsup2

Have a great and fun time! and a wonderful time as well.
I am glad that you and your mother were able to secure time off, on such short notice, that sounds like a very nice and flexible company to work for.
The airfare, is really very good, I am glad that you were able to find such a good deal.
See, the way I figure it, since all of the elements that needed to fall into proper place, in order to make a go of your trip, did, because you were destined to go! :)

Congrats to you guys!!:woohoo: I wish I was going that soon. We are not going until October.

We stayed at the Ramada Maingate in 2002. Never went back. Not a bad experience or anything, just much further than we anticipated it to be (we like to be right across the street at the furthest).

Have a magical :wizard: trip!!

Thanks everyone! So for those that have stayed at the Ramada, if I am thinking right, when you cross the street is it to your right and kind of down on the corner by Katella? I am kind of envisioning the sign. We usually stay at the Desert Inn and have stayed at the Del Sol and I agree I prefer RIGHT across the street. I am staying at the HoJo for the ladies trip in March and I am thinking that is going to be a jaunt and I am wondering if the Ramada is going to be about the same jaunt in the opposite direction.

We stayed at the Castle once and it was a LONG walk and I am thinking the Ramada was next door or close to. Am I correct in thinking or wrong. I wish they had a map that showed all the hotels on harbor to give you an idea. I agree that esp at the end of the day that is a LONG walk. We usually don't go back to our room anymore for mid day breaks but it is still a LONG walk at night.

And for those that asked my mom owns her own company and I work for her so we can go on vacation whenever the desire strikes LOL. As long as everything else falls into place which it did. ;)

The ONLY thing I didn't anticipate was renewing my pass :(

I came home and got online and was ASSURED by guest services that I could renew it UP until the day it expired however I got online and it said invalid barcode. So now I have to MAIL it in. Well it expires on wednesday so I sure hope I still get the 20 a piece discount cuz that is 60 total for the three passes plus my mom is doing it as well for hers. She wanted to upgrade to a premium but now that we have to mail it in we are not going to bother cuz it is already too confusing. Plus now I am worried about timing getting them back. We have barely a month till we leave and I have to have mail time to GET it there and then get them BACK. I am going to see about priority to mail it DOWN there but I am worried about them getting them BACK to me!

I wrote a letter with the passes but who knows if they will even read it. I am going to be nervous till I get them back. I sure hope I get the 60 too otherwise I could have just waited and bought new ones when we got there.

UGH!

Yeah! Have a great trip!!!

As far as mailing your AP to them, maybe you can call and get a specific person to put them attention to, and then pay a little extra for priority mail with delivery confirmation. That way, you have "proof" that they received them. Also, I would ask about how long it would take so you know about when to expect them back, maybe offer to pay for priority mailing back to you?

Yeah when I go to the post office I am going to ask all my options. Problem is their mailing address is a P.O. Box so I am not sure how that is going to work as far as getting someone to accept it but I will see when I get to the post office. I am in Sac and they are in L.A. it just makes me really nervous mailing stuff with it only being a month away. Last time we did photopass pics it took 6 weeks to get them. My luck they would get lost in the mail or something but I am going to take my old passes with us and hopefully if they DO get lost or something they can look them up in their system.

This kind of stuff drives me nuts. LOL. I just hope we get them before we leave! I will be a nervous wreck checking my mail every day!

Don't worry about anything, for it will just add stress to your life that you do not need, what with the price of gasoline and groceries, that makes for enough stress in ones life already. Everything will work out just fine, and contacting Disney is a good idea, just in case the process is a little slow in moving. I believe that Disney will make good on the offer, and you will have your new passes back, before you leave.

:flower:

Have a great trip! I'm trying to plan another trip before our passes expire on Halloween. Very naughty...that would be 3 trips this year.

Ok so I went to the post office and I sent them priority so they will at least get it in 2 days and I requested a return signature to show that they got it so I will have proof that they received it. It was well worth the 7.00 for the peace of mind. Now I will just have to hope that they honor the 20.00 off and get them mailed back to me. :)

At least once I get the signature confirmation back I will at least know that they got it from my end! :)
