My DS has been a scholastic under-achiever for the past 5 years (he's a Junior this year). Since 6th grade, we've had countless calls and meetings with teachers, guidance counselors and principals. We even had him going to counseling for a while and he told his counselor that he wanted to get by with the least amount of effort possible. :( She said sometimes it takes a failure to learn a lesson.

When he gets his report card, he "forgets" to tell us until we learn that his cousin (in the same school) already got his.

But.... yesterday he came home and gave me his report card and he was HIGH HONOR ROLL! I almost passed out. We're so happy and proud of him. Maybe my boy is finally growing up. :)

DD also came home with a High Honor Roll report card, but that's usual for her. We're still proud of her, but it was a bigger accomplishment for her brother. Her goal is to have Distinguished Honor Roll.
-----------------
There are 3 different types of Honor Roll in our school district:

Honor Roll - A's and B's (one C is allowed).

High Honor Roll - A's and B's, but must have A's in at least 2 major subjects.

Distinguished Honor Roll - Straight A's.

Congrats!! You've got a right to brag!! That'll take your breath away won't it??

Go out and celebrate and pat him on the back for a job well done!

I think this might top the new kitty :p....

Way to go!!!! Great news!!!

That is wonderful. Something good must have happened this year!:D

We did go out to celebrate. We took the kids out to dinner and they got to pick the restaurant. They chose a local Japanese steak house, similar to Teppanyaki at Epcot but also serves sushi. I also slipped them each a few Disney dollars to use on vacation. :)

Congrats!

I bet he was beaming with pride when he brought that home, and rightly so!

How very cool for your son!!!!! You must be one very proud mom!!!! Way to Suite's kids!!!!

That's wonderful! I also have a DS who wants to do the least amount of work:( Have already told him "class clown" is NOT a career option:D I'm sure you're DS will keep up the good work, he must be proud of himself!
